Found the below link on Yahoo. Has a list of companies Deerfield has funded and Mannkind currently has received the second highest amount of funds from Deerfield. y.ahoo.it/B3koOSnT

Actually it was the highest amount for R&D, Horizon's was for an acquisition. My take from Matt when I inquired about the relationship at the shareholder's meeting really conveyed a feeling of positive one between the two entities, like they were more of an ally/investor rather than a finance entity. Seems with their niche in the healthcare industry that they share in the goal of furthering beneficial medicine.

I would like to think the sentiment expressed in your last sentence is accurate, but I can't quite bring myself to do it! I do think the Deerfield folk knew a good risk/reward when they saw it, though. However, perhaps with some time (and some mellowing of my cynical perspective on most things "for profit"), I will come to agree with your feeling about Deerfield.

Baba, my main purpose at YMB was to help educate the newbies as most would end up going to that board...the ones here already know what they have and are very knowledgeable for the most part. Unfortunately Y has fallen prey to the "dark side" and it's a shame...not sure what's going on at Y but they had looked to improve their sports site a year ago and it also was a disaster. Honestly if it weren't for their critical mass and user base I would look at shorting them (their last earnings report was anything but stellar). I welcome counter arguments and objective viewpoints from both sides of the equation with respectable and intelligent discussion, so hopefully that is what develops and/or continues here on an ongoing basis. I will continue on a daily basis to post a promotional message about this board on YMB so any legitimate newbies have a good source of information to reference. Have a good one!

Honorable, Joey, and good luck with the Y folk. It's a tough place to hang out. I have some issues with YHOO, too, but don't know enough to short them (wait, when has that ever stopped me before)!

It wasn't that long ago that YMB was a semi-neutral place to post. Now, it has a clear agenda and looks more like the motley fool.
