I agree with Mannmade on his pessimism about Dr. K2 helping Afrezza. Although Dr. Kowalski is a Type 1 that has used Afrezza and likes it, and an early advocate of CGM’s, he seems to be more interested in what JDRF’s big supporter’s pursuits: Glucose-responsive insulin, encapsulation and closed-loop systems. Although he likes Afrezza and thinks it’s “almost” a miracle drug, he does not appear to be using it now, per the statement about his insulin correction causing his glucose to plummet. So, it seems to me that he will most probably be more of an ally to the BP than MNKD. What insulin would cause his glucose to plummet as fast as Afrezza? I was referring to the article from the first post in this thread where it said: Ironically, during our phone interview, Aaron mentioned that his CGM was buzzing thanks to the "crazy day" of this announcement, which prompted his blood sugar to spike to 280 so he'd needed an insulin correction dose -- and now his glucose was plummeting rapidly in response to that. (We feel you, Aaron!) I took that as meaning that it was plummeting too far (i.e., Hypo). Maybe I read that wrong.

He didn't say "I gotta end the interview and guzzle some orange juice". Plummeting isn't necessarily a bad thing.

“JDRF is pleased to partner with MannKind to explore opportunities to help facilitate making Afrezza more broadly available to the T1D community" Anyone aware of anything that JDRF has actually done so far or helped with? They are exploring those veins of gold deep underground with Kendall, somewhere in the Amazon. It may be years before we hear from them, but it's exciting to think about the adventure.

You’d think Bill Gates or somebody would give us a grant🤷♀️ I find it slightly embarrassing. He isn't on our side 😏

Well the Gates can swing both ways. And he does fit the Bill.
But, that's mytakeonit

That means your glucose is dropping at more than 3 points per minute. The CGM checks every five minutes so you could be 15 points down by the next reading. It doesn't mean you are heading for a hypo, if you got the dosing right you will pull out of the drop gracefully at your target baseline.

Wow, that's an incentive joke.

The echoes of that clip seem to have faded long ago. Almost like someone or something squelched it. A combination of being from 2013, and that pretty much everyone involved in artificial pancreas systems is chasing an insulin that can be delivered without user intervention (it just happens in the background). These days Sansum is focused on these closed loop systems in their research, but that means using RAA rather than Afrezza because of the need to automatically deliver insulin.
