I saw a Fiasp ad while on Instagram yesterday. How are the ads on Instagram generated? - Company creates the ad copy and the corresponding hero image(s)/video/story
- Company decides who they want to target with their ads (demographics, interests, preferences, lifestyle, etc.) which taps into the massive amount of Facebook/Instagram data on their users
- Behind-the-scenes algorithm decides when and where to show ads in specific user feeds with a bidding process to determine whose ad is eventually shown
It is very effective because of the targeting capabilities that can get your ad in front of the people you actually want and is relevant to.

I noticed a while ago, and again just now, that the homepage of the official Afrezza website is not formatted correctly for mobile using portrait orientation, but is for landscape. The top section and the first sentence is cutoff. The Afrezza important safety info box also takes up half my screen—while the Fiasp important safety info box takes up hardly any and is nearly half the size of the Afrezza one.
😏☹️

They must be using data outside of Instagram then because my account is unrelated to and not connected to diabetes whatsoever.

They must be using data outside of Instagram then because my account is unrelated to and not connected to diabetes whatsoever. Are you on Facebook? Have you ever clicked through to a post relating to diabetes on someone like Conor Daly's or Laura Cronen's feed? They track all your interactions with those platforms. That's how they know your interests, preferences, lifestyle, etc. and that helps them serve up relevant ads that have good engagement rates (more ad money for Facebook).

I do not have a Facebook account, it's been deactivated for years. My Instagram account doesn't have a single connection to diabetes. I've never even searched for anything related to diabetes on my Instagram account either.

I've never even searched for anything related to diabetes on my Instagram account either. It may not be directly connected to diabetes and you may not have specifically searched for diabetes, but you do browse other people's Instagram's posts right? You must have clicked on a diabetes-related post at some point.

For instance, from sites you visit, posts you like, apps you use, key words in Messenger conversations.

I saw a Fiasp ad while on Instagram yesterday. How are the ads on Instagram generated? Marketing companies track your every move online, unless you take a lot of steps to prevent it. They then serve up ads based on related things you've seemed to have interest in.

Very reminiscent of the days of Matt P and the like. Very Frustrating!!

I just skimmed their Data Policy, and just learned that Facebook owns Instagram. I've read a lot of Facebook's patents and so I understand that Facebook has full access to and control of my device.

Very reminiscent of the days of Matt P and the like. Very Frustrating!! The mobile version of the Afrezza website is not user friendly. It is extremely difficult to have a pleasant experience while browsing, and the gigantic safety info box probably is 90% of the issue. Why not make it a smaller size? I don't understand. The site needs a makeover IMO...font style and size, word choice, sentence structure, colors. Who is responsible for this?
