A 10-year comparison of MNKD with IBB, the much less risky Biotech ETF : stockcharts.com/freecharts/perf.php?IBB,MNKD&p=6&O=011000 Why anyone would risk being in a start-up Biotech when the whole industry is available with one click is beyond me, but I did just that. I also hold IBB, however.

avo, that's not a long way from asking why anyone would trade individual stocks when they could just trade the SPY or something. In the case of MNKD, in hindsight, we would have been better off putting our money in almost anything else 4 months ago. But on the other hand, I don't feel that way about my winners

BD , you have a point, but I thought that IBB providing +330% over 10 years vs -70% was kind of dramatic. BTW, the link in my post is only half active. To see the whole 10 year thing, copy and paste the entire link into the address bar.
Also, with SPY and sector ETFs one is partially shielded from the JCs. AFs and hedge funds of the world. With individual stocks it's every man for himself.

All true but when Mannkind hits Blockbuster status in a few quarters, you may not even notice if you just own the IBB.

All true but when Mannkind hits Blockbuster status in a few quarters, you may not even notice if you just own the IBB. That's why I still own some MNKD stock and Jan 2016 Calls. Also, I still harbor this pseudo-romantic thought that I want to be part of this great thing that will happen in the health care area. Such thoughts can get expensive, however.
