I went to my GP on Monday. Funny that we spent most of our time discussing the pros and cons of various diabetes drugs on the market. I think I blow his mind because I speak his lingo. I've been talking about Afrezza for at least a year. Like most doctors, we patients know nothing and they are know-it-alls. A year ago, he was oppose to the concept of Afrezza and his reasons did not make sense. Now he says their lucky to capture 10% of the market from the Hum/novolog users. Why? He makes no sense. He is absolutely against using Afrezza as a first line therapy. Again, a year from now he may change his mind. He is the same doctor I introduced Belviq too. Now he prescribes it regularly. I admit I go him to prescribed Belviq to me but it didn't work. It doesn't work for everyone.
Fortunately, my diabetes is under control with a1c at 5.9% now finally. How did I do it? I don't really think it was from prescribed orals (Metformin and Actos). I started taking Vandyl Sulfate and Chromium Picolinate a year ago twice a day and my a1c drop from just over 7 to just below 6 and I didn't loss any weight. If I could lose 25 lbs I could possibly go off meds completely so I'm starting on Qsymia today and see if that works.
I'm curious how many members suffer from diabetes? (I have to figure out how to do a survey, Liane help!!) I got involve with MNKD when I was first discovered I was a T2 diabetic, 7-8 years now and it's the reason I invested in this company. I've been in it starting at $2 and average now just below $3.50 with an embrassing amount of shares and drama aside, I'm not selling until Al sells. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to thank all the members. At times, I've wanted to cash out but your encouraging posts kept the faith that someday (soon I hope) this will be a blockbuster drug. Thanks all and may you all have a blessed Thanksgivings.

I have to figure out how to do a survey, Liane help!! I'm not liane, but perhaps I can help. After hitting "Create Thread", you'll see a button along the top labeled "Add Poll". Press that, and configure your poll. Note: Don't put the poll question itself into your subject line, instead make your thread subject something like "Diabetes Poll." Suggestion: Go to the test board and create a poll or two to see how they come out (then you can delete them if you do it within an hour.) Good luck!

Qsymia has some nasty side effects. Any drug that can change your normal personality isn't one I would consider unless it was a last last resort.
I know people who had to be institutionalized and health care professionals believe qsymia was the cause.

Belviq did not work for me and my GP insisted I at least try it for 30 days. Believe me if it doesn't seem right, I will stop using it immediately. Thanks for the insight.

Good luck with finding the right meds, Papihoyos! Both VVUS and ARNA have been pretty disappointing stocks. I have always thought that the amount of weight loss to be expected was not enough, but obviously side-effects are very important.

While his diabetes is contolled with an A1C under 7 with Metformin, as all diabetics, his disease will most likely progress. He doesn't want to use hypos. When I heard about Afrezza, I knew this would be the answer. Happy Thanksgiving to all !

The reason I tried Belviq is because I was following all the new weight loss drugs at the time. I invested in ARNA and made a boat load. I sold out most of my position just after approval. Once I tried it and it did nothing for me, I sold the balance. Now they are studying Belviq to help people quit smoking. My weight problem is related to my diabetes, not because of my consumption of calories. My metabolize is very low. Belviq works on your craving to eat but does nothing about your metabolism.

Have you read the trial results from the Belviq/Phentermine trials? They are showing some excellent results with minimal side effects. If I remember correctly the weight loss was over 8% in 12 weeks.
