The SI lending rate is 38% this morning... Wow that is impressive! That would certainly make it more profitable for Fidelity. It seemed very generous for them to give away 20% out of 28% that was previously noted as the going rate. Maybe they'll up the payout again!

As of this moment, Fidelity is 28.25%. So we are not being quoted Fidelity's rate.
They're paying us lenders 20%. So they're making 8.25%.

A message in my Scottrade account:
Stocks and ETFs Subject to Higher Maintenance
Please be aware that there is an additional maintenance requirement for the securities listed below. This requirement is in addition to our house minimum requirements, which do not exceed 100%.Trades in these securities should be placed with the additional maintenance requirement in mind. Margin maintenance requirements may change at any time without prior notice.
Stocks subject to an additional maintenance requirement are listed below:
MNKD 100%
Holdem's Note: Of the thousands of stocks (estimated) listed on the table Scottrade provides, MNKD appears to be the ONLY stock that has 100% additional maintenance. The rest of the stocks listed on their table vary from 20%-75% in additional maintenance required.
The above-mentioned securities may be held at a different maintenance requirement than stated, due to stock pricing requirements, recent initial public offerings (IPOs) and/or Federal Reserve requirements.
Keep in mind that these issues can rapidly rise in value and also fall rapidly. Stocks on margin that have a rapid price fluctuation may cause you to have to liquidate shares or deposit additional funds to meet maintenance requirements. If you have any questions about your margin account or maintenance requirements, please contact your local Scottrade team.
Visit the Knowledge Center for more information about margin requirements.

Am I correct in interpreting this message to mean that Scottrade views short trading of this stock as extremely high-risk?

Mnholdem.
When I had a margin account... TDA was lending out my shares. As long as my portfolio wasn't over weighted in MNKD I was given a 50% Margin requirement. Once it tipped 50% it became 100%.. this was 5 months ago. FWIW

Scottrade does not participate in a Share lending program either. I had some of my shares at Scottrade and moved them to Fidelity to get my 20%. Best move I ever made. A message in my Scottrade account:

Just saw that! They're still charging out 28.25% per their website; I wonder if they adjust it tomorrow?

Fidelity raised the interest rate for shorts to borrow to 30. 50 % the next reporting date for short interest is April 24, 2015 for the period ending April 15.will we see the number of short shares go up or down? My guess is we will be close to 100 million shares short That is only 4 days from now and in the last weeks they have been throwing a lot of meat on the grill just to keep the sp down. We might even be over 100 million. It would seem insane if not only because shorts are clearly in control at this stage of the game. I have no doubt things will turn, but predicting when is not an easy feat. Will it turn when MNKD finally deals with the infamous notes, will we have to wait for several quarters of good sales numbers. Undoubtedly a large part of the short position seems to be tied to the notes, perhaps as large as 30 to 40%, but that leaves another 60 to 70% ... For the time being I would not be surprised to see the sp touch to go below the lows of the year. Although in all truth, nothing really surprises me much about MNKD anymore. In any case I still see the current situation as a great buying opportunity, but I am waiting to see where it really lands before I jump in for more.
