Let's say Binder really is single, set financially and willing to take a big risk to join a risky biotech start-up with upside potential. What about the other two industry experienced veterans with high level jobs that also chose to leave big companies and join MNKD? Are they also single and set financially? All three joined MNKD because they like Mike C and also see tremendous upside potential with little to no risk. Still wishing we knew why the cash risk is obviously far less than what we can see on the surface. Be happy we don't know, akemp, if we did, then that knowledge would be baked into the abysmal share price. This way, if they can pull a few rabbits out of a few hats, it will surprise the market and we get a meaningful bump.

This board, as it always does, is doing a great, great job over analyzing this hire.
They hired a CFO with a good amount of experience, they are paying him a good salary and he'll have some upside, his acceptance is evidence (far from proof) that MNKD will not fold up soon.

I just wanted to observe that Stryker International Inc., where Binder worked, is a SUBSIDIARY of Stryker. It seems to me that at least a few people are conflating the two. Exactly! He was part of the subsidiary (IMHO). Also, Rose was doing a pretty decent job (being in MNKD forever), and they removed her from finance completely? wow! Is it a house cleaning by Mike C? I dont remember reading offer letter ever in this context (well, I havent ever followed a company like MNKD ever before - this is stalking :-)) Is she also a part of the 2 year arrangement (change of ownership or something)? MNKD is trying to pay everyone! May be I should have applied for a job there too :-) Did Matt P try to take a conservative approach (less dilutive/non-simplistic/close to being realistic but a smaller amount) that was pushed back by Mike C with a non-conservative approach to raising cash? Matt P was doing a very conservative "small dilution and few mil cash raise", and didnt go far, which made him lose trust of BOD, and may be Mike C just wants to a bigger dilution and raise a larger amount (showing all these onedrop, UAE, Brazil..), spend all on ads and hope for hail mary thing? But, the exposure and scripts are looking up compared to last year. May be (I hope) it will work out. But, I feel bad for Matt P. Makes you wonder about Mike's management style. I'm not willing to say he's manipulative or opportunistic but my radar is up. On the other hand, if he can turn the company around then that's what it's all about. We'll see.

All I know is these guys are sitting on the greatest advance in diabetes care in 95 years. Mike has had 18 months to make some sales. Now he has his entire team in place and its time to get it done. Instead of talking about dilution why don't we talk about sales and what the pps would be if we get some. How about in the next 30 days UAE is announced as Al Mann's tiny country worth $200M yr? Whats the pps? How about in the next 30 days a China deal worth $50M is announced on top of UAE? Whats the pps? How about a $50M Indian deal too in the next 30 days? Whats the pps? How about on top of those three deals RLS announces in the next 45 days clinical trials? Whats the pps? After 18 months its time to get the deals announced and the PO's in hand.

hey..just because EVERY new hire is not from AMGEN does not make it an invalid theory....did you hear Mike C Tweet that MNKD has been in a constant "Blackout| period since his last buy? what do you think that could be indicative of?

She spent 8 years as corporate controller which overlapped with her being VP of finance for 14 years and with her being the principal accounting officer for a year and a half. But now she's been moved to investor relations? Is there a reasonable explanation for that?

What needs to happen, IMO, is that MannKind's new CEO needs to be out spreading awareness of the company, its technology and how Afrezza fills an unmet medical need.
The new CFO needs to bring in funding for marketing, the pediatric trial and pipeline development.
The new CCO may be limited in what he can achieve if he's hampered by a shoestring budget. As former CCO, Michael Castagna got a lot of foundation laid with limited resources. His DTC ads have been limited to clinic waiting rooms and the Afrezza website. Tomorrow the first TV ad for Afrezza airs.
Whether through collaborations or debt financing, the new CEO has to see to it that MannKind gets the financial resources needed to advertise Afrezza. It's the same issue all small companies face: it takes money to make money.

Over analyzing? This board? Get out of here. OTOH, hiring a CCO, we got a pop. Hiring a CFO, we got another pop. I think we should hire a CTO. If that is not enough reasons, I can recommend a "high ranking" officials from Amazon to deepen the plot. To be followed by an CXO and CYO, of course.

The truth is, it is only conjecture on your part. I'll give you a high probability on the "like Mike C." and "upside potential" because the new hires need to believe in the science as a qualification to work for the company in my opinion; but to say this comes with "little to no risk" is your own interpretation. Maybe they see this as a hell of a high risk but also as a hell of an upside potential......and THAT is why they joined the company. But the other thing that's true is neither you nor I or anyone else here knows why they joined the company. It is all conjecture. Most posts on stock message boards are conjecture and opinions. The simple and obvious point made was how ridiculously absurd it was for some to suggest Binder took an extreme risk because he was single or set financially. The statement regarding their reasoning is far more logical and likely. Nothing more.

People read things and don't think much about it so they believe what they read. Your comment appears as an attempt to mislead or make people believe that you understand the facts. It's not dissimilar to the activities that took place during the recent election. Perhaps it is due to my brief foray into journalism but when I see things being presented as facts that aren't I feel the need to call them out.

"Perhaps it is due to my brief foray into journalism but when I see things being presented as facts that aren't I feel the need to call them out." With an attitude like that, no wonder it was brief, Falcon!
