Before I venture an answer to your last question... explain why you think it likely that good news comes on 29th. MNKD has for years done these sorts of conferences and I don't recall a single time where it was the venue to announce something meaningful. At the conference I expect praising jump in revenue (from price hike), some references to negotiating better insurance coverage, work continuing on finding overseas partners and a teasing mention of RLS (we can never see that Mike winks every time he mentions RLS) Oh, and very quick mumbling under his breath about missing guidance last period. Hmm... what has my experience been so far as MNKD investor... well, there was this time I had a laparoscopic operation that went horribly wrong... or there was when I got caught in a rock slide in the mountains. Can't quite pick the perfect analogy. Is your SO wanting to try Afrezza? "Before I venture an answer to your last question... explain why you think it likely that good news comes on 29th." Geezus, DBC, give the new guy a break! The answer to your question is revealed in his post - in the very first sentence, for goodness sake. Grand man, hang in there, it's going to be a bumpy ride! It was in jest. I even just edited to add in another little winky... oops, I mean perfectly normal size winky

Love your references. I kind of figured this would be the case, as it's essentially the same statement w/ most companies other than Alphabet.
She would love to try it but she has AmBetter; which does not currently cover Afrezza. Plus, as a type 1; Afrezza is essentially only supplemental. She wouldn't be able to get off of her long lasting insulin injections/pod system; so it really doesn't offer her anything special, at the moment. This said, she would give it a shot if AmBetter would cover it; just for the novelty and in hopes that MNKD expands their platform into longer lasting insulin, down the line. Not sure they could do it via inhalation though.
Regardless; as to your question: I am a fool, that is why. HAHA! But, just looking at charts and thinking about timelines. Afrezza has been on market for 3 years now. It's due to either boom, or bust. Much like MNKD; near it's all time low and has been for over 2 years. It's due to either pump, or die entirely; in next 18 months.
I tend to expect Afrezza itself is going to make it, to new avenues. Whether or not MNKD champion's it's baby, or goes out of business to have the concept tackled by another, I have no clue. But I do anticipate a true alternative to injections for diabetics becoming a staple, and common, sooner than later. I jumped on the ship because, honestly, it had been years since I'd read of the product; I see all-time-low creating a 50/50 shot at either profit or loss; I believe in the industry and potential of the product.
All this said, here is how foolish I am! 3 months ago, I was investing in Crypto. 1 month ago, I determined 100% of crypto is price fixed, casino equivalent pseudo investing. I might think MNKD is a disaster 40 days from now. My hope-gut pushes me more toward, MNKD stabilizing and the difference in a $1 per share price and a $3 per share price, becoming negligible, during next 2 years.

Hahah thank you! I'm having mixed feelings on my investment. The way I'm going to look at this.. I put 5K in. If I lose 100%, I'll be fine. I can afford a 2 - 5 year play, to see what happens.

Now, watch MNKD drop to $0.87 over the next 7 days. I've screwed us all.

Only if you present it in a gold-pressed-latinum chalice. In that case, please fill said goblet with MNKDrano-wine.

Yes the good news will come on the 29th of February in a leap year. When is the next leap year?

It would have to be a very differently formulated long acting to work inhaled. The current long acting work by delaying the progression into the blood stream. Having an insulin hang around in the lungs doesn't sound terribly good idea to me, so inhaled long acting would likely need to be some form that got into the blood and only gradually converted from an inactive state to the active form of insulin. That doesn't currently exist. Perhaps suggest to your SO to look into Tresiba and Afrezza. It seems some are getting pretty darn good results with that combo and allowing them to get rid of the pump with once daily injection. Though I gather peoples' views about desirability of wearing a pump are all over the map.

I was being thoughtful. Preston Nichols said when he was working in Montauk the alien in the room next to him loved Drano. Drano is/was pink champagne in this instance. We should ask baba.
