frumenti - I was not aware Lilly was getting into the CGM business. I knew they had been working with Dexcom in the past. That would be great news if they are. Do you have more info on the Lilly CGM?

I am Type 2 and take only Afrezza. My A1c is usually around 6.3. I have been on Afrezza for 3 years and am very happy with it. Lilliy is coming out with a relatively inexpensive Continuous Glucose Monitor. Some people on Afrezza that use a CGM are able to keep their A1c in the 5.x area. I do not use one now but am planning to get the new Lilly device. Afrezza is the fastest acting Insulin so you are not sitting around waiting for an insulin shot to work or sitting around waiting for that same insulin to get out of your system. Enormous amount of time devoted to waiting for insulin taken by shot to work and get safely out of your system. I have no medical training but am very happy with Afrezza. I can occasionally have pizza or ice cream and pie and just inhale an extra cartridge of Afrezza. I don't have to measure or do a lot of math in order to calculate my dosage. A CGM makes it even simpler as it gives a reading every 5 minutes and finger sticks not required. You seem very pleased with Afrezza and your comments are similar to other patients who have blogged about their experience with Afrezza. Do you know of any possible reasons from your experiences or those of others you know why prescriptions are not growing beyond 450 to 500 per week?

I could be mistaken because Lilly is pushing into the medical devices field, but I thought they were building their own pump and they were integrating a Dexcom CGM the same as JnJ did with the Vibe, and Tandem do with their pump. This is all part of Lilly's Connected Diabetes Ecosystem model.

So I think I figured out my routine for Afrezza. I've been getting much better time in range lately. When I get up out of bed I immediately use 4 units because I start spiking right away even without food. I take a long shower and then a very small breakfast not requiring any units. Lunch is from no units to 8 units depending on what I eat and if it's carb loaded. The same with dinner. My Afrezza package has 30 4-units and 60 8-units.....it's a one month supply. I'll be getting my first refill in a couple weeks.

Do you know what a titration pack would cost with your cost basis? 120 + 480 = 600 units total. The list of boxes does not show your 30/4u 60/8u. I know they had them. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 180 cartridges 90 – 4-unit cartridges and 90 – 8-unit cartridges and 2 inhalers (Titration Pack) 180 cartridges 90 – 4-unit cartridges and 90 – 8-unit cartridges and 2 inhalers (Titration Pack)60 – 12 unit cartridges and 2 inhalers (Titration Pack) 60 – 4 unit cartridges, 60 – 8 unit cartridges, 90 – 4-unit cartridges and 2 inhalers 90 – 8-unit cartridges and 2 inhalers 90 – 12-unit cartridges and 2 inhalers afrezza.aspnprograms.com/siteforms/Afrezza_enrollment_form.pdf

Had a great experience today with Diabetes Nurse at the clinic where my son was diagnosed with T1 8 weeks ago. Word is getting out for sure!!! This clinic basically said 8 weeks ago that Afrezza was really not for T1 Diabetes. 😳 He is in the honeymoon period and his blood sugar is all over the place. The nurse said today, ‘well the good thing is we diabetics (she is T1 herself) have a faster acting insulin available now to help us manage diabetes better’. My wife said ‘Afrezza’?. Nurse said ‘yes, we will get him set up on it in June on your next visit’. 👍🏻

This is all part of Lilly's Connected Diabetes Ecosystem model. Lilly will be launching a patch pump that connects with a DexCom sensor. This article has no photos of the pump put it sounds similar to Insulet's Omni Pod. diatribe.org/sneak-peek-lillys-automated-insulin-delivery-system. All of this should help push the time in range narrative. On another note, lots of media talking about pre-diabetes these days, another article from diatribe: diatribe.org/diagnosed-prediabetes-how-find-support-near-you

Sounds like incredible news however it happened (the Afrezza awareness). Nurse being T1 is good news for you and your family because she should know all of the twists and turns.

We have never talked to this nurse about Afrezza so she brought it up herself.

That’s a good sign with her bringing up Afrezza & the patient not having to beg for it or threaten to find a new Dr that will prescribe it.
