Just gonna lay this out there (and partly because I don't like having 666 posts), that $5K in stock options is a joke. I'm nobody and I've gotten more than that from my company, more than once. And yet the haters come out in force complaining about his compensation. So over it. These arenāt stock options, but nice try. His actual stock compensation (options and free shares) is much, much larger.

Any employee can elect from 0 to 10% of this salary to purchase company's shares.

mnholdem is a very reliable poster and I am relying on his post as to whether the purchase was through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) or stock options presumably granted as part of a compensation program. My experience has been ESPP does not work out to an even number of shares based on a percentage of my salary. So again, I'm going with mnholdem on this one unless and until better information becomes available.

So again, I'm going with mnholdem on this one unless and until better information becomes available. Stock options are granted for free. You don't need to purchase them.

These weren't options, it was employee purchase plan. The "haters" as you refer to them (people complaining about compensation level) were upset with the 584,000 of options GIVEN in May. Not wishing to speak for all haters, but I think most would actually prefer seeing MC purchase larger amounts than $5k rather than thinking it somehow too much. It's the raise and the large amount of options received for free that some "hate" and some like me simply feel were really bad optics and understandably eroded shareholder support for management.

My view on MC's compensation, both salary and options, is that these were negotiated with the Board of Directors, and approved by shareholders. If you want to bash his compensation, some of that bashing has to be spread around, and I would still question whether it was fair. I can understand people being dissatisfied with performance, but in regard to compensation is what Dr. Castagna earning as a CEO of a small biopharma completely out of touch with what similar people in similar roles are earning?
As for the purchase, I agree, $5K isn't much and it would help if he's going to make a purchase that he make it be larger. I feel bad saying that, but as an officer and principal of the company insider trades carry a lot of public weight and should be made with that in mind.

The agreement had a cap on the number of shares you could purchase at a 15 percent discount to market price. Sorry not impressed with their purchase of shares with a discount code.

Management is buying. All I really needed to know. What is so complicated Im buying and I have options to exercise come end of year to. I hope to be exercising them with a lot more buying. Still not complicated. Maybe management is just giving you a clue what to do if your feeling confused about all this buying their doing.

For those who may not know where to look, Google Sec Filings Search and select company filings. You must select the radio button āinclude insider filingsā followed by the Search button to get to the Form 4 filings. Choose one of the links (ie html) and scroll down the form to the footnote.
