I disagree. Something is on the horizon. Going back to FDA approval. They knew the deal coming with Sanofi and did their best to keep it under wraps. Management could have hit TV and other media for weeks talking about the significance of getting FDA approval. Such a big milestone. What did we get SILENCE. The weeks leading up to the 2nd Quarter financials. Silence until the minimum day requirement to post and file for a conference call. Then out of the blue sky came the Sanofi announce 12 hours before the 2nd quarter call. What happened after that call on Monday? SILENCE. Either management is very incompetent or the smarter than a fox. There is more to come. Perhaps Al almost spilled the beans on Monday. Perhaps whatever it is will not be announce for another quarter or two. Maybe it deals with a bigger plan of finality of MannKind and its agreement with Sanofi or perhaps it includes the Partnership that Sanofi announced in June with Medtronic.
Medtronic can't really make any new announcements until they finish their inversion with Covidien. I am not sure when that is to be finalized but I would assume before the end of 2014 or first quarter 2015. Maybe there will be a buyout of Mannkind with the devices / technology going to MDT and Afrezza going to Sanofi.
Where there is SILENCE there is something more happening at MannKind.
Asuming the above scenario takes place, the only problem I see is: Where does the Money come from? MDT is spending $45B on this deal. I know it's been my theory, but is it possible? Or does the Shares added by SNY come into play on this deal? As far as I know, there were never financial arrangements disclosed on the MDT / SNY collaboration. I know I am poking a hole in kc's theory (which I also agree is the 2nd part of this), but any thoughts? "SILENCE!!! I'll Kill You!!!" - Achmed the Dead Terrorist Asuming the above scenario takes place, the only problem I see is: Where does the Money come from? MDT is spending $45 B on this deal. Anybody see this just announced deal? online.wsj.com/articles/roche-to-acquire-intermune-for-8-3-billion-1408896002LONDON — Roche Holding AG ROG.VX +0.04% said it has agreed to buy San Francisco-based InterMune Inc. ITMN +1.11% for $8.3 billion in cash, the biggest acquisition in years for the Swiss pharmaceutical giant after a string of much smaller purchases. The deal aims to boost Roche's relatively small respiratory business through InterMune's single drug, pirfenidone, a pill that treats a progressive and fatal lung disease called idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The drug is approved for marketing in some of the world's biggest markets, but not yet in the U.S. Analysts have predicted both drugs could rack up blockbuster sales by 2019. But while both may slow the loss of lung function, they don't cure the disease. There are about 128,000 U.S. sufferers of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, which mainly affects middle-aged and older adults, and more men than women. The disease kills quickly: Median survival time after diagnosis is two to three years. ONLY 128,000 US sufferers of the disease.
read the line about blockbuster sales by 2019. This drug is not even FDA approved yet. Our day will come since there are millions and millions of potential customers for Afrezza. I still think it's very quiet by MNKD and SNY management.

Any Licensing Agreement involving rights to patents requires a review and approval by regulators, mandated by the Hart, Scott, Rodino Antitrust act. The waiting period is 15-30 days after filing. Although the filing is not made public, according to the act, regulators may disclose certain information at their discretion. In other words, they can legally "leak" certain information to the benefit of others, all in the name of transparency. We all understand, of course, that this enables regulators to let others get in on the action. Potentially corrupt practice IMHO. BTW, I also wonder if Medtronic will fit into the picture. If they do tie into MDT, are they constrained with waiting for their present deal with Covidean to go through? With the Justice Dept, involved, they could hold it up for as long as they want. Why the tax deal should be a problem is beyond me. With the synergy, they will probably be paying more U.S. taxes and creating U.S. jobs! Sometime (too often , IMO) the government misses the forest for the trees. There is no reason this deal should be held up for 6+ months.

Review my comments from back in August. They still apply today. Personally I think Haken and Al had telegraphed this a couple of times since August 11. Now we have the Medtronic comment that occurred this week. It has been speculated on this site going back to the June 2014 partnership between SNY and MDT. I disagree. Something is on the horizon.
