"Any borrower who applied for a PPP loans before the new guidance and repays the loan in full by May 7, 2020 "will be deemed by the SBA to have made the required certification in good faith." - This is a statement that is offering amnesty, "an out" for publicly traded companies to give back the money, "No harm, no foul." While it would be a nice to keep the money, it would be nicer to return it and say...ooops, we acted in good faith but there are other smaller businesses that need this funding more than we do. I thought the intention of the program was to help our neighborhood businesses survive the shut down? I hope MNKD doesn't take the stance that they are going to keep it because they've heard or know of other companies that aren't giving it back, or Legal says..."We're ok." There is a big difference between 'doing the right thing and doing things right". This was not right. Agreed! The purpose of the loans were to keep employees from being laid off and off Unemployment Insurance. In the 11th hour the Gov't relaxed the rules not the businesses. You want to complain...complain to the Gov't.

Ashford Inc., the publicly traded hotel management chain owned by Monty Bennett that has received tens of millions of coronavirus relief aid, says it plans to ignore critics and keep the money it's getting from a federal loan program meant to assist small business impacted by the coronavirus.
In a statement posted on its website Saturday, Dallas-based Ashford said it and its affiliated companies, which manage hotel sites for luxury hospitality brands including Ritz Carlton, plan to keep all of the funds the companies receives — nearly $60 million so far — under the Paycheck Protection Program.

Lawmakers are to blame if their intentions were to not let publicly traded companies, apparently of any kind, to receive the PPP Loan—afterall, lawmakers are the ones solely responsible for the Bill.
MannKind is in massive debt and does not churn a profit, but they have a life-saving medical product that many people with diabetes depends on.
I say MannKind is more than justified for the PPP Loan and needs it.

Mannkind is getting crucified on Twitter! I noticed that yesterday, but really it's not so many people. Less than a dozen. Luckily no one (relatively speaking) follows Mannkind on twitter, so there is near zero chance of this protest going viral.

I say MannKind is more than justified for the PPP Loan and needs it. Unfortunately, taking the PPP money sends a poor message to doctors who might be investigating whether to prescribe Afrezza for the first time to their patients. I remember some people on this forum claimed a few years back that reps from other Pharma companies were telling doctors and endos that Mannkind was in poor financial straits (in order to dissuade doctors from prescribing Afrezza, i.e. why prescribe it if it may not be on the market much longer). Now Mannkind is very publicly doing this on its own.

Looks like MannKind removed that tweet about taking a loan along with all the negative comments. How do you remove someone else’s tweet? Oh never mind I guess they deleted their tweet... They have Vdex/Me/other shareholders blocked so I can’t see it ..the only way I saw it was through someone posting on Stocktwits.

I believe MannKind is justified for PPP Loan. They are in massive debt and have an obligation to produce Afrezza for the thousands of PWD who use Afrezza and depend on it. They manufacture a life-saving medical product and need to ensure their employees, especially those at the Danbury facility, remain employees and the lines keep moving.
Meanwhile, I guarantee you those same Complainers have not a said a word to the people who received coronavirus relief checks who never needed the money and were never justified to receive the money—so many people here in West Memphis have used their coronavirus relief money to buy new rims for their cars that it made the news.

Those were not the criteria for the loan (now anyway). Mannkind can raise money by selling stock as it has done several times in the past. The fact that taking the loan is better for the shareholders is not material.

Lawmakers cannot penalize the Company after the fact for following their own rules and guidelines. Lawmakers should have created a more precise and specific Bill the first time.

Now Mannkind is very publicly doing this on its own. That's not even close. Mannkind is entitled to the money based on the rules of the program. They are losing more money since the country was shut down by the politicians AND they might have furloughed employees if not for the loan/grant. Anybody stating otherwise is a short or just trying to stir things up. If you are long the stock and are complaining about the $4.9 million, you are a fake long just here to create FUD. Final answer.
