Mannkind splurged for the whole car this time, instead of just for a little area on the (I think they're called) flaps and / or bumpers. Talking about increasing coverage!

Knowing a little about sports sponsorships and major brands, I too think money could be better spent. I once had a boss that would say, "this is a long run for a short slide." Indy gets noticed once per year for days to a week + only. They could sign a myriad of other talent-based, more relatable influencers that would operate for 52 wks for this money and assuredly generate more annual eyeballs. They're aiming this aspirationally too high. NASCAR in the diabetes belt if the Southeast would even be a better play - and still relate to fast in fast out. In fact, MNKD could agree to make a donation to a diabetes related charity on behalf of the team with the fastest pit crew (fast in / fast out). NASCAR loves making real / relatable connections with fans.

Conor also has 80k Twitter followers. Not bad for a 17th place guy, eh?

Okay, now both pics in one post, just for comparison purposes... Try this link for a nice big picture so you can see the placements better: ml.globenewswire.com/Resource/Download/928f9845-3312-499c-be77-e81fc0cb7e90?size=0It will also be interesting to see how/if they follow through with the pit crew attire this time. I'm guessing a lot of his followers are Type 1 diabetics.

I'm guessing a lot of his followers are Type 1 diabetics. They're probably mostly Indycar fans because that's what he does, but any that are would have already been exposed to this campaign in 2019.

Watch your Endocrinologist turn into one when you tell him/her you want to try Afrezza.

I don't know much about racing, but if Connor were to have a hypoglycemic crash while speeding around a track leading to his demise, probably wouldn't be good. I haven't watched an INDY 500 in, forever. It's boring to me. Where is the United Therapeutics car? Oh wait, they just sell and work on new products.

Did we ever figure out last time if he even uses afrezza? I was hoping that he is taking payment in Afrezza.

MNKD has a strange approach to marketing. Many here bemoan the fact that are still too many health professionals who have not heard of Afrezza. How does this racing sponsorship help. I do not see the word Afrezza anywhere on the car. Is the purpose to sell Afrezza or spotlight Mannkind for investors and shareholders and have something for Castagna to talk about?
If you are selling a product, name recognition of the product is more important than having the company name on the car in several places.
In the PR, Afrezza isn't mentioned in the main text at all; it is only mentioned in the section "About Mannkind Corporation." If you are selling a product, the product has to be front and center, otherwise, what is the point?
Afrezza isn't mentioned in Conor's tweet either.
This marketing effort may be cutesy, but I have difficulty seeing how it will be effective.
One has to ask if the slogan on the side of the car refers to Afrezza or the CEO.
