From mid-November to January short interest dropped about 6M. In the first two weeks of January short interest increased 3M. All on relatively no news other than positive anticipation for the upcoming 4Q report. If this is not manipulation, someone please explain. If it is, then it's time for MC to call attention to this.

Question: is it possible for short interest to increase and decrease over time (on relatively no news) in the absence of manipulation? Can it simply be that in Nov and Dec the share price was such that shorts closed more positions than they opened, while in Jan (higher MNKD share price) it was the opposite? In other words, basic trading dynamics, supply and demand, etc.

But what fun would it be to have no drama, bias and wild speculations I assume the worst. i.e., big spikes on relatively no news = manipulation to create and benefit from volatility. Is the practice illegal? I assume so. Is the SEC or Congress going to do anything about it? I assume no.
I reviewed a Harvard article on SEC Enforcement Bureau activities in 2022. (https://corpgov.law.harvard.edu/2022/12/27/us-sec-enforcement-2022-year-in-review/)
The word "short" appeared twice and referred to duration of time. Shorting is not something the SEC appears to care about.

MNKD Nasdaq real time volume, 2,643,838 shares. MNKD Nasdaq summary volume, 2,643,838 Avg. Volume 4,478,544 $5.31. +0.01 (+0.19%) I want to say in general Pharma was negative today, AMGN, MRK, UTHR, LLY... all running a bit negative today. MNKD holding and testing... MNKD daily, schrts.co/GXQRugiK$COMPQ Daily. schrts.co/BdDBujKRLet's talk about the $COMPQ. a potential bottom is in, with a measurement. 1,458 points the measure, on the break and hold of 11550 to make it round. 11550 plus 1,458 = 13,008, which is the head and shoulders neckline.... doable. I am going to step out, oh, the $CAC is ... well look. schrts.co/cjbQxNHYit is going to test top. The $DAX the same "ish" schrts.co/PCkZjFTDThe DOW, the INDU following their lead... ? schrts.co/kKDYPeJr

Back to business, the $COMPQ. I ask myself, are you being naive? You know how downtrends work.... However, The $COMPQ daily, that "W" pattern. A measurement, to 13,000, makes sense, I have seen retraces back to the neckline before. If this $COMPQ retrace does happen, a triangle will be forming on this topping pattern. The economic numbers seem to be chugging along. The $COMPQ weekly, A retrace to 13,000 is a retrace to the 100 week MA. $COMPQ Monthly a retrace to 13,000 is a retrace to the 20 month MA. $COMPQ daily..... schrts.co/UWMeFrcw$COMPQ weekly, schrts.co/UxIQQQqc$COMPQ monthly. schrts.co/RcCPvngk================================================================================= If this $COMPQ theory comes true with MNKD hitting and holding $5.00 and the revenue growth we know is coming in, the $COMPQ popping should help MNKD continue up. (Steven Van Metro still saying, get out now.... reading the analyst clips.... is he looking at the charts? ) MNKD Monthly, schrts.co/tzjsXRCSMNKD weekly. schrts.co/JzsKgvvN

side note, the $COMPQ is through it's 200 day moving average, and has broken out and up from it's 1450 point base. Break out at 11550, the line is off, you get the gist. schrts.co/RwvupnJBCome on MNKD follow the NASDAQ up. giddy up. 5.30-0.01 (-0.28%) As of 10:09AM EST. Market open. added, MNKD volume at 1 hour of trade, summary, 249,447 shares. $5.32. +0.01 (+0.19%) push....

I think in the comparison of fundamentals versus technical analysis, the fundamentals of the economy, inflation, loss of relative consumer earning power, concomitant increased consumer debt, and virtually certain additional increases to interest rates do not favor the analysis in the short- to mid-term. I'd be delighted to be wrong but I think the global COVID hangover and the authoritarians in China and the madman in Russia continue to weigh on fundamentals.

With 2 hours until the close of the week MNKD is trading at $ 5.22. -0.09 (-1.69%) MNKD volume, 983,353 Avg. Volume 4,470,931 12/21/22. aged wrote, Think of convertibles like options that you cannot trade but which pay interest, and return the principal if they expire. In other words there is little incentive to exercise early if the borrower is doing well. In the case of the senior convertible notes they cannot convert until the share price has been 30% above the strike price for 20 out of the last 30 days - that condition has not been met yet so they won't be converting. Mannkind can redeem the convertibles for cash after March 2024, but the lender can opt to redeem instead in that case. Generally the lender will not want to redeem as long as the share price rise + interest is outpacing their metric for returns. They want to draw out a good thing The Midcap loan was modified in 2021 to remove the Afrezza sales targets and substitute the $90M free cash limit instead

$COMPQ through 11,550, a break and hold of 11,550 targets 13,000. The thing about this trade is a stop can be placed directly below, controlling risk reward. schrts.co/UAUZremysee it? Look at where 13,000 is and look left.

Peppy, I thought the start of the week was either a bull trap or bots stop loss hunting the short sellers. The SPX trend line has been tested around the 4013-4019 levels, retested and broken. Waiting for JP to throw a backdoor slider! He has to be slithering around waiting to destroy this breakout.

The Nasdaq was at 13,000 last August. It may want to try for 13,000 again. The $COMPQ ended the day at the downtrend line. schrts.co/HigzzESD$SPX has broken through the downtrend line. schrts.co/HeSFtWGP$INDU price above all it's lines, price making a small triangle on the daily, incredibly it looks like it wants up. schrts.co/KwMWxSVYWhat's going on? weehaw, ridem
