Mannkind has issued an announcement their supplier has reported a fire in their production facility in Germany that will cause a delay in the trials. IMO, this will likely cause a temporary reactive drop in the share price that should recover prior to the mid-August quarterly report.

It seems like a great opportunity to refocus resources and determine if MKC253 may have therapeutic potential in obesity. If it does I think we are sitting on a blockbuster significantly larger than clofazimine .

That was one of my first thoughts as well when I saw the company would be looking at ways to mitigate the situation. This delay could inspire a new direction and announcement. We'll see. |

I have no doubt that the short interest cabal will make this sound like it's the biggest calamity since the Titanic, or even the implosion of the tourist sub visiting the Titanic... Since the fire occurred on June 26th, MNKD took their time in making the filing- which seems appropriate given its larger significance. But why today, he asked? Happy independence day! |

When I first saw the headline on this my heart dropped. I thought it was a fire at the Danbury facility. Thank goodness it wasn’t. I confess, that was my initial fear too. That would be catastrophic. There has been more than one time over the years where I worried about such an event. One expects that this thought has occurred to the executive team too, so that multiple layers of prevention and contingency planning are firmly in place. In this day and age, nothing surprises. In general, the culture seems to be more inclined to reactivity than proactivity, since there is little immediate profit in prevention. |
