I bought some at 3.50 thinking that might be the floor. Obviously I jinxed it. Sorry! No apology needed as you did not jinx anything. This is where our management team has us, after many years of their efforts. Like a quarterback who throws a pretty pass in practice but doesn't have the size, strength, quickness or wherewithal to deliver during a real game, our team talks a pretty good game in conference calls and fireside chats but hasn't delivered value for shareholders. Maybe it's bad luck, coincidence, conspiracy, manipulation, a curse, but whatever the reasons our share price track record is the scorecard and it speaks for itself. Chagrin is an apt word for this thread. We thought chagrin was $4.35 per share when peppy named this thread, little did we know the real chagrin was still to come.

The old adage is that markets can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent. Buying opportunity? 😆 oops too soon. Im deciding whether to buy more shares or sell puts? I didn’t sell my trading shares before the downturn so I’m leaning towards the latter. I consider it selling short term insurance to the nervous Nellies. Edit: Decided I’m getting more shares. $3.41 is low enough for me. I was just looking at Jan 2025 puts and the premiums aren't nearly as high as I thought they'd be... so not pulling the trigger yet. At times I've gotten high 20% annualized return range on MNKD put selling.

If it stays here a while I’ll maybe put my next bit of cash to work with the puts. Eventually we’ll be netting $1 a share in royalties alone. $3 a freaking share. Pfft! Ridiculous.

Options expiry today...within .05 of 3.50 strike The $3.50 strike is not what any of us had in mind, incredible. I stopped buying calls in Mannkind years ago for exactly this reason. There are too many traders selling calls with the ability to manipulate the market. Having expiration come on an earnings week was a dinner bell for them.

I lost a lot buying leaps. My thought was the stock priced way too low and I would have to make $ on them. I drank the koolade and lost a bunch of money on them. I swore of buying options because I’ve proved that my timing and expectations were way off. I don’t want to sell options for the same reasons and don’t want my shares sell at a loss

Same here, boca; my last batch of calls expire in January (I'm expecting worthlessly), and I'm not planning on there being any more.

I stopped buying calls in Mannkind years ago for exactly this reason. There are too many traders selling calls with the ability to manipulate the market. Having expiration come on an earnings week was a dinner bell for them. I don't know why I didn't think of that, but actually yes you could be right about the dinner bell although not for the reasons you think! I traded this myself from time to time. As earnings approach the implied volatility spikes because of the uncertainty and then after the call when the uncertainty is gone the spike collapses really fast. The nice thing about the IV Crush trade is that it's almost entirely independent of stock price movement.
