MNKD intraday volume today continues to accelerate as the 2 hour volume was Volume: 1,036,920 The three hour volume is, Volume: 2,128,928 $4.37 +0.43 (+10.91%) OCT 10, 2023 12:30 PM ET MNKD Nasdaq real time volume, 3,774,771 shares. $4.24 +0.30 (+7.61%) The share price going in the correct direction today. Up 10 cents premarket with a trade size of 4 shares. So someone spent 40 cents (plus commission) to do this. Why do people do this? I can see trying to drop the price to trigger automatic stop losses, but I don't see how anyone can benefit from buying a few shares at an elevated price. Are they somehow trying to get other people to react?

You can look at it this way: whoever tried to paint the price by buying 1, 2, 3, 4 shares...achieved their goal because you're here talking about it. I'd say just ignore that stuff.

It all depends on how you define "spent". If I invest $1 on something that is worth $1, it doesn't feel like I spent $1 because my net worth didn't change. But that's my take on it.
