Fidelity's rate to us is now at 50% - short squeeze, anyone? On Tuesday December 1 the rate charged to borrowers from Fidelity was 65.25 % and the lenders were getting paid 42.5% .
On Tuesday December 15 the rate charged to borrowers from Fidelity was 28.5 % and the lenders were getting paid 16.5 % . screencast.com/t/KCXb8YbuTmDI
I am trying to make sense of it.

Making sense of it is a worthwhile pursuit, can anyone do it? It would seem the astronomical interest rate might indicate a squeeze, but in the past it did not play out thusly. Any historical precedent (even if with other stocks) to help guide us here?

checking to see if the 24 million shares that came through on options expiry as part of the 39 million shares traded that day was short covering. screencast.com/t/MLz4wCzd9wGH 120 - 112 = 8 (million.)
should check dates for short interest release....

Fidelity's rate to us is now at 50% - short squeeze, anyone? Short Squeeze is actually not a scientifically defined term. Wikepedia says that it is " if short sellers simply decide to cut their losses and get out."
If we take this definition literally, then when Short Squeeze, borrowing should actually become less. In theory, if MNKD is at $1600 (like Volkswagen did), nobody shorts it anymore and everybody shorted would have covered or have to cover, and then there will be, of course, no borrowing at all. Therefore, logically, we haven't seen Short Squeeze in general yet. The shorts are still "Doubling Up" trying to make the longs blink first. When the squeeze come, the price will still go up but the borrowing interest rate will be going lower, from very high.
What you think of my theory?
Curious to know, when one receives notice from Fidelity asking for shares to lend, can one refuse? If the shares are lent out, say at 50%, will that rate stay that high till the shares are returned or fluctuate? When the interests become low, can one opt to NOT lending his/her share? Because if one can, that can contribute to a short squeeze, right?
Say, Fidelity has 20M shares lent out. If this 20M share owners tell fidelity to stop lending these shares, does Fidelity have to scramble to get this 20M somewhere else or simply reject the request? As much as I do not like short sellers, especially with MNKD, that would be a very unfair situation for them.
Very curious indeed.

When will Nasdaq post short interest? Looked yesterday and today with no update. I thought it was on the 15th and last day of month? Is it because the 15th was a Friday it will be Monday morning?
Thanks!
