Ok should have read the whole thing:
[0011] In embodiments the peptide can be an opioid receptor agonist. In embodiments the peptide can bind to the .mu. opioid receptor, .delta. opioid receptor, or .kappa. opioid receptors, or combinations of receptors thereof of cells in the central or peripheral nervous systems.

I wrote a long thing on this somewhere on Proboard a while back.
If this is what I was hoping it is this is a very big deal. The peptide in question would make addiction impossible or highly difficult and theoretically be a major shift in how we treat pain. This is a long shot that I though was dead. This latest info seems to hint that the peptide in question is still in play?
On a side note why is this being discussed in resources? If I understand this correctly this is a big deal. I say this cautiously because when I read stuff on my phone I tend to get a very partial understanding of what I read and don't want to repeat past mistakes!

In January of 2014, Spiro and I met Al Mann and Andrea Leona Bay at a drug delivery conference . Al was the key note speaker and Leona Bay gave a presentation on this very topic, Technoshpere inhalation for Migraine pain. They had just come from Torrey Pines the day before.
To say they were excited was an understatement. They were bold enough to say that it would be bigger than Afrezza
This may still be years away, but the future looks bright.
I still never understood how Torrey Pines was able to get the mice to inhale, but when I posted this last year someone actually sent the link to how it was done.

I see this patent more as a way of extending the existing Technosphere patent by making it specific to pain treatment. (a good thing) But, I don't think all the benefits of the trials that we saw in the Torrey Pines trials will be carrying over to the first Mannkind pain product. (I.e. A universal non addicting pain killer) Mannkind basically said that they will be using an existing (off patent) pain medication for it. Also, whatever they have planned is probably not an opiate. A rapid acting opiate would be very addictive and overdosing would be a huge problem. My impression is Mannkinds first pain product (like for migraines) won't be a blockbuster (~500M/year) but the potential is there once they've established safety, etc and have deeper pockets. According to Jim Cramer tonight there are 36 million Americans have migraine headaches. not that one would listen to Jim Cramer as he pumps and dumps. But he had a person on tonight talking about migraines. Perhaps we have given him one.
36 million would make migraines very profitable for MannKind.
