Mnkdnut Welcome and thanks for your very insightful posts. With your level of understanding of DTC strategies, I hope you post much more frequently! Chris C Thank you, Chris. This Board has been a big help to me. I guess the main thing I wanted to communicate is that Sanofi has just one chance to get this launch right. No mulligans, especially with the Exubra cloud still (unfairly) hanging over our heads. Sanofi's priorty has to be ensuring (as much as reasonably possible) that each prescription results in a satisfying experience for both patient and doctor. A paradigm shifting medical product like Afrezza comes with too many moving parts to make adoption move both rapidly and smoothly. There's just too much at stake. As impatient an investor as I am (8 years worth, with more valleys than peaks), I'd much rather see a gradual "controlled" prescription ramp with rave patient and doctor reviews than a steep ramp with, let's say, mixed reviews. (can't resist this football analogy: you're at the 1-yard line, just hand the ball to Marshawn!)

I think the DTC is showing up in google trends. Afrezza as a search term just hit an all time high. They use the high point as "100" and prior months relative to that. Here are the numbers going back to just before start of sales.
Dec 22 Jan 49 Feb 89 Mar 66 Apr 65 May 55 Jun 56 Jul start 100
When plotted against Toujeo, for this month it is the "100" and Afrezza is a relative 89. It had shot ahead of Afrezza in May but these first days of July (to the extent the sample period is valid) Afrezza is catching up fast. This will be interesting metric to watch. Novo and Humalog are still way ahead of Toujeo and Afrezza in searches.
I'm going to be watching this trend closely and would like to keep track of how the numbers change throughout the month. I've decided to track two metrics...
Afrezza Jul/Jun ratio: currently 1.79 Afrezza/Toujeo ratio: currently 0.89
I'll try to post updates once a week (or more if I get really excited, or bored... hmm, I might be posting more than once a week).

And "spiro" as a search term is an order of magnitude higher. What did you do in 2007? There was quite a spike in Spiro interest that year.

Google Trends data is projected for the current month. So a spike on 1 July will make the month look way higher until we get more days of data in the month to adjust the projection.
Basically google trends is very unreliable for the current month.

Basically google trends is very unreliable for the current month. Possibly, though they don't post a month until a few days in. There was nothing yesterday. It would be interesting to know how many searches there actually were. Even if these numbers are reliable for the first few days, one advert might have a short lived spike and then the monthly numbers would start coming down again... unless it has the affect I think it will whereby awareness of Afrezza starts becoming self reinforcing. Time will tell. BTW, today's number for Toujeo certainly seems reasonable given its' trajectory over the past few months.

Good grief guys, Spiro and Babaoriley alone were responsible for at least 1000 Afrezza google searches last month.
Spiro here, it's a shame that so many Type 2's are clueless. A great treatment for their disease is right in front of their nose and they can't find it.

At some point I'm going to try to convince my mom to go on Afrezza... when I think it wouldn't be a monumental uphill battle with doctor/insurance. She has a 6.9 A1c. It would be great if with simple protocol like you have to bring that down a point.

Toujeo ad in Time magazine, my guess is that the next issue will have Afrezza.
