Chris...be careful, with that particular statement you may talk yourself into voting for the Donald  Joey- Not unless someone drugs me and takes me to the polling booth at gunpoint. My preferences are for leaders with humility, intellect, and a greater awareness of the immensely changed world (fast approaching) that awaits us in the 21st Century. But he IS entertaining.  |

Historians may one day tell our children that Reagan's "Peace through Strength" approach to foreign affairs is what led to the tearing down of the Berlin Wall and the dismantling of the U.S.S.R. after their leadership realized they did not have the resources to continue financing their philosophical agenda.
The bottom line is that antagonists will take what you give them. Whether countries or terrorists, once they believe that you lack the resolve to "walk the talk", you are toast. Millions' lives are affected as the result.
Example: On the day before President Ronald Reagan was inaugurated, the Iranian hostages were set free unharmed.
Reagan epitomized two rules:
1. Everybody hates a phony, and;
2. We're all lousy actors (people know if you mean it)
As early as the presidential debates, the Iranians realized that Reagan was not a leader to mess around with.
The problem with many of today's so-called "leaders" is that they think they are great actors and can convince the American people, when a majority of those aspiring to lead are not fit to serve. It only takes one crisis to put on full display the metal they are made of.

One thing I like about Alfred Mann is his sincerity. There is nothing phony about the guy and he has my respect. Another example of a true leader.

MnkdHoldem: I totally agree. One has to respect a person who is motivated (substantially) for the good his work does for others. Although i have not met him, I would be honored to do so. Mr Mann strikes me as an unassuming, principled, and approachable guy (given the number of posters who have had photos taken with him!). Chris |

Chris C , I always admire your thoughtful posts . Some folks must be getting scared . But since they get flagged so fast when they show up here , they seem to be changing their tactics . I must be "perceived " in some way as a weak Long as I'm going to paste the PM I received from BMW (who's been banned ) this morning . When you can't support with facts you make up lies and attack people. This is a classic strategy employed by many including one Joseph McCarthy.
Where people do not seek to deliver the truth there is a hidden agenda behind the lies and bullying.
