I have a modest holding in a couple TD Ameritrade accounts, but does anyone know if they lend those shares to shorts similar to Schwab?

No position in MNKD just just following the saga. (really?) (...) Matt should be ashamed of this cop-out and take ownership for the reasons of poor stock performance, there's a good reason why you've never heard shorts addressed in a conference call before, most presenters take accountability instead of blaming others. Nonsense! Incessant stock manipulation and strategically timed short raids have been devastating to the pps. I don't see Matt's comments as anything other than a sober admission that negative market forces are aligned against us and we as lending longs are adding fuel to their bonfire. Sadly, when one has held for 5 to 10 years with a negative trading balance it's hard to give up the only real return on MNKD stock since it's inception. I'll pull my 70k shares back if everyone else does too. Otherwise, I'm just flushing money down the drain. Agreed. Matt made it clear that he believes that retail investors can't have it both ways. That is, they can't complain about the share price while giving ammo to the short traders. That said, he also asserted that the value return to shareholders from fewer shares to short would exceed the interest payments they are getting. I think he meant this in the long term. I don't lend my shares, but if I did, I'd realize that I would be trading interest payments for share price. He noted correctly that share price translates into conversion costs which fall to the bottom line of the balance sheet. No argument there.

I thought it was a productive call this morning. A lot of the early stage concerns appear to be in the rear view mirror now. I look forward to diminished burden of prior authorization over the next 6-12 months and as that becomes less of an issue along with more Sanofi reps selling Afrezza and DTC, I believe in a month or two, we should start to see some nice trends in terms of NRx and TRx.
Looks like good efforts and progress moving forward with Technosphere applications. Can only push it so fast but in the next few quarters, likely a flow of positive news. For all the people who are good with charts and technical analysis, I would like to know if you believe share price is now at the bottom.

What I expected to be announced today before the call was a next milestone payment for lines 2 & 3. I still hope it will come in the next weeks.

Matt put to rest the FUD being spread on DaZoo (and briefly discussed here) that management is lending out shares, stating that MannKind employees are not allowed to keep their shares in any account that permits lending.
Thanks for clearing that up, Matt!

I would like to add that you only need to have margin on the account/have the position on margin - you don't actually need to utilize the margin. So even if you don't borrow money they're still borrowing your shares

If you have a Margin account you can still designate that your MannKind shares be held in a cash position and they should not be lent out.

I just pulled my shares back in Schwab (not a huge amount, around 15,000 shares); they couldn't have been nicer and it took around 60 seconds for my account online to reflect the transaction. I realize that everyone has their own investment philosophy, but I took Matt's comments to heart; I can't bitch about shorts and then help those bastards out which ultimately hurts me in short term angst and worry. It felt great - my own little "small step for Mannkind"!

BRING HOME YOUR SHARES!!!!!! Sing it brother! We longs can and do a considerable amount of complaining about management. Well management just directed a complaint back to retail shareholders about something they can do. Stop lending your shares. We are cutting our own throats by lending. I stand by my original offer... mnkd.proboards.com/post/27029

I sent Matt a message last week that I didn't post with some of my comments and suggestions. He and Haken both responded separately and very professionally regarding an idea to give to the Joint committee. I did not comment or post the suggestion or their reply as I thought it a reply that should be keep privately. Sometimes we should not tell everything we know or hear as the Shorty's hear it to and use it against MannKind. So I can see why Management responds like they do to the public.
My take of today's call is that they are very busy working on Afrezza, new ideas and running the company for the future. I think that the resolution of the notes will be very interesting as the are issuing Non-registered shares to the new selected note holders. My suspicion is when the BA shares come back to MannKind into the treasury . Then these newly returned treasury shares will be reissued to the holders of the Non-registered shares and we will see Buy In? Yes! Buy In. Matt said that they will soon make an announcement on the debt resolution and the current shares-to-notes conversion, the period for which ends tomorrow (August 11). I thought Matt's comment interesting, especially when he stated that they did not want to convert below $4.60/share.
As far as buy in... well, I've posted my thoughts on that possibility. If SNY was a note holder and has been converting notes plus buying MNKD shares off the market or through fund managers during this period, they have until August 21 to file a 13D with the SEC, announcing that they have taken an equity interest in MannKind Corporation, assuming they only reach the reporting threshold today or tomorrow.
I can see Sanofi taking an equity stake for two reasons:
- buying an equity interest would send a message to Wall Street to demonstrate their support for MannKind and its shareholders and, more importantly, its product Afrezza;
- buying a percentages of MNKD shares at these prices would lower Sanofi's future average $/share in the event of an acquisition of product/company.

Based on your comments you have or have had a position in this stock. So you want accountability. There is no accountability for things that you can not control. Without the help of investors,adopters and the SEC to rein in the manipulative actions by many sources. A small company alone, even with a product that has been praised by actual users, does not have the ability to stop manipulation. If you would like another saga to follow please read the remarks of certain analysts as compared to the actual users of the product.

I have never lent any of my shares and do not intend to do so. I have a substantial number of shares in two IRAs and joint brokerage account.
