I posted my wild speculation on YMB so sharing here as well. This is obviously not information to make investment decisions on. Just a theory but i believe Receptor's first technosphere application will be a treatment for Alzheimers/Dementia Connecting some dots: From MNKD Press Release: MannKind Corporation (MNKD) (MNKD) today announced that it has entered into a collaboration and license agreement with a newly formed entity, Receptor Life Sciences, Inc., pursuant to which multiple inhaled therapeutic products will be developed to explore their potential to treat conditions such as chronic pain, neurologic diseases and inflammatory disorders. From Aug, 2015 Article "Inhaled Insulin Eyed As a Dementia Treatment" : Researchers at the UW Medicine, Veteran's Administration Puget Sound and Saint Louis University have made a promising discovery that insulin delivered high up in the nasal cavity goes to affected areas of brain with lasting results in improving memory. The findings were published online July 30 in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease. www.psychiatryadvisor.com/alzheimers-disease-and-dementia/inhaled-insulin-improves-memory-dementia-treatment/article/430731/www.adcs.org/Research/doc/eNewsLetter/ADIN_E-News_Sept_2015.pdfOriginal clinical trial was completed at University of Washington and current clinical trial is scheduled for completion in February of 2016. clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01767909Last piece of the puzzle. Technosphere nasal inhaler was registered with FDA in 2015. imgur.com/Ti7xJrjThe insulin used in the above linked clinical trial (Phase II and III) is Insulin (Humulin® R U-100) which is Eli Lilly. Eli Lilly has previously partnered with Accelerator Corp - A seattle-based life science investment and management firm. www.bizjournals.com/seattle/blog/2016/01/seattle-based-accelerator-corp-launches-first-new.html

madog365, The only problem I see with your theory is that you would not need Technospere, which is designed to travel deep in to the lungs, to deliver insulin to the nasal passages. Sort of overkill.

Sort of overkill. exactly lol.. technosphere is for lung absorption and not nasal.. and insulin is already loaded on to technosphere in afrezza

Liane, i don't have a great answer for the valid point you bring up - and if i did this post would be less speculation. Is it out of the question that the inhaler Afrezza uses, is not the same design that receptor will be using? I did post a screenshot to a mannkind registration for a nasal inhaler on the FDA website. imgur.com/Ti7xJrjI pulled that screenshot from a Proboards thread posted in April, 2015. mnkd.proboards.com/thread/2251/inhaler-gen2-manufactured-flextronics-companyIf you look up that registration # on the FDA website now, all mention of Afrezza has now been removed - listing remains. Not sure what this means though.

I don't know either. I'm just saying you could probably squirt insulin solution into the nasal passages with any nasal inhaler and have an effect. You don't need to over-engineer the solution by putting the insulin on Technosphere.

It is interesting, however, that we are talking about Type 3 Diabetes here (Alzheimer's).
