Op, IMO, Pfeffer is acting as a placeholder until the new CEO arrives. That's why he has not hired a CFO replacement. The BoD will hire DeSisto this fall when his non-complete clause expires and Pfeffer will be retaining his CFO job. As far as you ridiculing Matt's not disclosing information when he's bound by one or more non-disclosure agreements, that seems to me to be like hitting a man who is handcuffed. If you honestly believe that hope is our only resource, you must not be very good at research. I am not sure that will happen. Why would Pfeffer step down? given the heavy lifting now is being done by Mike. Didnt Matt get a ton of options recently for signing up as a CEO. Then again , can the company afford to hire another ceo with options and salary? iam2, that's a great comment in your last sentence about affording another CEO. Let's put it this way, if DeSisto joins, MNKD will likely make it, because Mike will have proved to all how great a salesman he is! It won't be Matt convincing DeSisto, it will be Mike that will have to take that on. Unless Mike figures he himself ought to be the next CEO.

..."Imagine if MannKind management got off their ass and partnered with Dexcom/Verily?" trondisc Agreed. This is the other incredulous failure from management. Matt P. numerous times clearly stated that one primary thing that they learned from the Sanofi fiasco was that pairing Afrezza with CGM's was the key to its continued performance and success. If MNKD has acknowledged this themselves then why are they waiting for this collaboration to appear instead of actively promoting the collaboration themselves. It's like a MNKD syndrome... say something important but do nothing about it. I like Matt. Regarding CGM's, MNKD management is trying is my take.
From the Cantor Fitzgerald healthcare conference slide number 7 presented by Mike.
further Mike looked at HgA1c levels and explained, basal insulin will decrease HgA1c levels so far, then it is the after mealtime, the post prandial glucose levels that need to be controlled to bring the HgA1c down further. He is nailing the reason for clinical use of the CGM with afrezza. FPG = fasting plasma glucose PPG = post prandial glucose (post mealtime)

Completely agree with you. People saying to me that I'm beating down Matt. That's not What I'm doing. I'm just stating that Matt is not a CEO.
Beside, don't forget that Matt is our CFO and he preciously know about SNY leaving. What MNKD done? Nothing.....
anyway, best luck to all of us.

Yes, of course it is, but many were saying that why wait for all the PCP's or Endos to hear from the 60 -70... that will take some time and they are certainly not going to reach all of them. I guess I'm talking in the interim while this new staff meets the drs. just to keep the ball rolling... Kind of like preheating an oven before you put the cake in.

Lol. Do you think a CEO not going to conferences calls, or saying: we are not going to diluite and just after he finished the ER do exactly the opposite is a guy with "balls"? We can argue whatsoever you want, but this is not a good CEO. In fact, just think about it, last Mr AL effort was to hire DeSisto. Now, What happened to DeSisto we all know (the question is: poor mgmt study about Desisto legal situation?? Why??) and with none to get the CEO place they decided to put Matt as CEO. until now (share price proves it) Matt doesn't delivered to shareholders, instead, looks like he is in doing all possible to help the other side to cover.... Do you need more facts? Transparency? Do i need to remember VDex? Who are they? Crickets..... RLS? Allen? I dont know, just hope some Mr AL friend trying to keep MNKD a float. Retinas detachment? Well, that can happen, but, please, dont defend Matt..... he can proves me wrong, i hope he will, but until now, just smokes and mirrors. nice weekend Op Congratulations. Your lack of style (advocate devil..) and your wild bashing qualified you for being blocked. You remind me of a notorious troll at SA. If this is indeed the case, go back to your cave in the SA abyss.

I respect your opinion and others one.
About Hakan: we knew Al Was his friend. But, listen people, sometimes also a smart guy can make some mistake. I remember clearly (for reference you can find it in the last Hakan CC or one of the last one, when Hakan stated about new developments for TS: Let's talk.....). A CEO basically bagging during a CC for some call to develop TS? Well, that's said all to me.
About TS (is the goose): I'm agree, but, how long has been TS available? Almost 8-10 yrs and now is when we are looking to some attempt to get new products on TS. Time is ticking and we are in peril (Unfortunately).
anyway, Let's close this chapter, hope sales will pick up. We are approaching ER (short will try their best to turn it negative again) and we could see SP going down further. The only way Matt can avoid that is pulling an unexpected rabbit from the hat and surprise short, but until now, facts shows he done terrible job.
best regards Op
I like Matt Pfeffer. I also really like Hakan Edstrom, as my past posts will attest, but neither one of these gentlemen really has the experience that is needed for MannKind, IMO. This company is about way much more than Afrezza. If Afrezza is a golden egg, then remember that Technosphere is the goose.

About Trustee: If you remember, on april or may, there Was a huge volume on a down day. I dont remember exactly the volume and i cannot see it on my iPad, but Was really huge. Those days were the ones when Matt done the famous diluition just after the ER or close to it. A lot of ppl were speculating about family selling their shares. Volume was really big and probably they already sold, but, to be honest i hope they don't. It will not surprise If they did, but just to remember that day of huge volume. have a nice weekend op I had this all written down but its on my work computer. I thought Al Man had around 132,000,0000 of shares between himself and the Mann Foundation.. I think it would be aggressive speculation if they got rid of a 1/3 to this point. Oh and more importantly there would be short shares available every where if they were sold.

The sales force was something I desperately was trying to get a better pulse on. If you search linked in for diabetes specialist in sales you come across some god awful pages and some amazing ones. As a sales person my thought process was great or even good sales people do not get laid off. You don't lay off closers unless they were an absolute head ache to deal with. I am a great sales person and my company would never ever lay me off unless my sales started to come down. Its always how can we help you close more.....

Yes. This confirms what I said but to trondic's original point (and the last sentence of my post) MNKD management doesnt seem to be acting on it. Despite MNKD 2.0 transparency not turning out to be as touted, I dont see any reason why MNKD cant announce that pursuit of a collaboration is central to the relaunch. We dont know if MNKD is or is not pursuing a collaboration, do we? Granted the technology in the CGM field is transforming rapidly with a number of players present so picking a particular company may be difficult at the moment. Whether we like Matt P is irrelevant. Matt was important to the development and production of Afrezza and credit where credit is due. Certainly his ability to stabilize the company has been demonstrated given all the preceding circumstances but the point I raised in the other post in this thread is that given Matt's training and background he doesnt seem to have what we need in a CEO in a relaunch that is part of a commercialization of Afrezza (not merely organization-production). MNKD is heavily reliant on Mike and his team for this phase of the company and while not a sleight against Matt, Matt's weakness as a CEO for commercialization cant be ignored (see my other post ). At the moment we dont have much choice in this regard. This is why so many have stated their preference for Mike's capacity to present. In the development phase of Afrezza a general inwardness and focus (including lack of transparency) was crucial to its success but the transformation into marketing and sales etc requires a general outwardness of focus. This shift for MNKD long time management like Matt is not automatic nor perhaps even possible (hence the need for outside people like Mike). While the lawsuit against MNKD certainly didnt help, the general lack of transparency in MNKD's company culture is well known and explains, at least for me, why Matt's promise for greater transparency in 2.0 including issues like CGM collaboration etc isnt much better despite his promise. Yes he is trying but old beneficial habits often turn into vices in different circumstances.

Given that I am an MD, also having limited tolerance for pharmaceuticals re-labeled, etc etc, for quarterly financial engineering (and I do not talk to those reps, toss the info, because I always research meds)--
I do have respect for educated, responsible pharmaceutical reps (almost uniformly these reps have real healthcare/pharmaceutical etc degrees and broad experience). I do find the time somehow to talk them, even briefly, do look at the physician directed literature/guidelines for prescribing, etc etc. And I do use the valid and understandable company literature/instruction sheets when talking about meds with patients----
I imagine that Mike has readied great informational brochures/patient info etc for the new roll out later this month.
Many of you would be surprised to know how many non-endo physicians know of Afrezza, but found Sanofi's way incomprehensible.
There are only so many hours in the day, and so many responsibilities, and such need for physicians to document/explain etc, that in what I believe was a C level decision to obfuscate the use of Afrezza, that many physicians will welcome the opportunity to learn more.
Never underestimate the power of social media about heath care in this day and age.

Interesting post. I found this very interesting, especially from a Dr.'s viewpoint.
"Many of you would be surprised to know how many non-endo physicians know of Afrezza, but found Sanofi's way incomprehensible."
Could you possibly elaborate on this at your convenience?

iam2, that's a great comment in your last sentence about affording another CEO. I am a great sales person and my company would never ever lay me off unless my sales started to come down. Its always how can we help you close more..... Look at the contraction and downsizing in the sector as a whole; pretty substantial. Often in this "restructuring" companies lay off middle management but next to go is often the feet on the groundl; sales personnel including very good people who are good closers. Either internal politics, seeking "younger blood", lack of recognition by upper management etc sometimes play a factor. Mike C, given his experience, isnt going to have picked just anyone for this job and If the pool has become larger then he has much more to have chosen from carefully given what he needs for MNKD. And its likely that Mike hasnt merely relied on recently laid off people as his selection targets. As you already know the commercialization team is diversified and is more complex than just what most people think of when they think of sales people.
