Iam2 - thanks for the email contact for Mannkind, an email has been sent. To answer your other questions, Afrezza is the only insulin I have ever used. I have been taking metformin for a number of years but never insulin. I fought and won an appeal, based on excellent results, to obtain insurance coverage on Afrezza. After paying out of pocket for 6 months the insurance company provided it to me at no charge until I turned 65. Now I am on Medicare and although not on the formulary, Express Scripts is providing coverage although the copay is higher than I like. The DE does have other patients on Afrezza, especially after seeing what it has done for me. Spirometry is a non issue but insurance coverage is still spotty and limiting patient access. One interesting thing of note, the DE informed me that Sanofi was told by insurance providers that Afrezza would never achieve status lower than Tier 3 and this entered into their decision to part ways with MannKind. Improved label (superiority) and pricing would change that in a heartbeat. SNY (Brandicourt) simply didn't want it in their armament. SNY's Apidra barely has any coverage and how many years has that been on the market..??. I have noticed that most all insulin has been moved to tier 3 or 4 on part d formularies ... SAD

My customer service story keeps getting better... I just received a call from a MannKind Nurse Practitioner inquiring as to whether I had any questions regarding Afrezza from a medical perspective. She emphasized the limitations regarding smoking or other lung ailments and offered to send me the "safety information". She also asked if I had any dosing questions or needed help with a prescription. We talked for several minutes, she was quite knowledgeable and very pleasant and she asked my permission to call back and check on me at a later date. Wow!
Contrast this experience with meeting the local Sanofi rep in early Dec 2015 at my clinic. The Diabetic Educator introduced me to him and we talked privately for at least 15 minutes. He gave me his business card an told me to contact him if I had any questions and he would try to help me. I sent an email with some questions a few days later and never heard from him. Curious....

Effective today my A1C is down to 5.6 and my doctor is thrilled! This is truly an amazing drug for a Type 2. The nurse educator from MannKind continues to call me every 3 weeks or so and the customer service continues to be outstanding. Continuing to get insurance coverage at a high tier but I do expect that to change for the better in 2017.

Lake fox I just read this thread and I'm glad you are doing so well with Afrezza and having a great expieriance with the help provided by MannKind. It is very humbling of you to come share your expieriance with us here on pro boards. As you must know most of us here are invested in MannKind because we believe that this innovative inhaled drugs will be life changing for many. If you don't mind me asking I would be interested to know if you are also invested in MNKD or if you plan on buying any shares? Thank you for sharing your stories. Promann.

Is mannkind cares calling all new patients? If so I guess I'm surprised it hasn't helped retention more.
