When Goldman Sachs announces that it will no longer provide coverage for MannKind, does that mean that they no longer have an interest?
MannKind Corporation (NASDAQ: MNKD) Stock
GOLDMAN SACHS GROUP INC Shares Held: 6,974,774 Market Value: $ 4,324,000 Change in Shares: - 1,594,052 GOLDMAN SACHS GROUP INC(CALL) Shares Held: 4,405,500 Market Value: $ 2,731,000 Change in Shares: + 3,800,000

6.97 million common shares, 44,055 CALL Contracts and only 281 PUT Contracts? Wow! That doesn't seem bearish on MNKD, does it?

Would that include call contracts that they sold?

someone call goldman and tell them now would be a good time to buy. The same someone should call Yahoo's management to suspend Martin Shkreli from finance.yahoo board for continues harassment of MannKind. It took me a year to travel from yahoo board to ihub and finally to proboards. We are loosing thousands of potential longs by allowing this manipulation. How come Lauren Duca was able to get this criminal out of twitter in couple hours after her one twit to Dorsey?

This was as of 9/30/16 or almost over 3 months ago. They are trading this stock and I'm sure once the 12/31/16 numbers come out you will see a decrease in holdings.

True, but my original point wasn't about what they're holding now. It was that Goldman Sachs dropped coverage of MannKind in March-2016 and yet as of the Sept 30, 2016 reporting date they held what I would consider to be a very bullish position in the company.

excerpt:
What is an 'Assets Under Management - AUM'
Assets under management (AUM) is the total market value of assets that an investment company or financial institution manages on behalf of investors. Assets under management definitions and formulas vary by company.
Some financial institutions include bank deposits, mutual funds and cash in their calculations; others limit it to funds under discretionary management, where the investor assigns responsibility to the company.
BREAKING DOWN 'Assets Under Management - AUM'
Assets under management describes how much of investor’s money an investment company controls. Investments are held in a mutual fund or hedge fund and are managed by a venture capital company, brokerage company or portfolio manager.
AUM indicates the size of the fund and may refer to the total amount of assets managed for all clients or the total assets managed for a specific client. It includes the funds the manager can use to make transactions. For example, if an investor has $50,000 in an investment portfolio, the fund manager can buy and sell shares using the investor's funds without obtaining the investor’s permission.

Goldman Sachs has 1,300,000,000,000 AUM with a 10,000,000 position in mnkd. This equates to .0000769% of their portfolio is in MNKD. Does .0000769% sound like a bullish position?

And full disclosure I spewed this same thought process, and kept buying more shares, until my cousin enlightened me and how wrong my thinking was.

Might also be interesting to note that I am no longer seeing MSCO (Morgan Stanley Company) on the Level II quotes for NASDAQ from my provider.
GSCO (Goldman) ASK & BID is still there usually about 15% off the current trading price. Always seems to adjust away from the market price up/down and is alwayx for the same Lot Size.
I mention this because MSCO used to be outside the bracket (20% off the market) set by GSCO.
Noticed this starting at the beginning of the new year.
Not sure if it means anything,
OOG
