Hi all - I have been following this board for a while and have been long for longer than I would like to admit. I wanted to ask if anyone was aware that this coming week there is a Mannkind Annual Sales Meeting happening in Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay? Any thoughts? Both Matt and Mike will be in attendance.

That's what I hear:-) And also that a lot of the early adapters will be there to show the sales reps their results and share about their life changing experiences.

That's what I hear:-) And also that a lot of the early adapters will be there to show the sales reps their results and share about their life changing experiences. so they dont pay for dinner meetings for docs who write the RX , but demo for sales reps?

That is why I am curious. They are spending quite a bit of money. So is this a last hoorah, or is it a sign that they are very optimistic about the future?

I hope they put ALL of their remaining cash on "red" - it's a better bet right now for them to do that than try to spend it all "turning the ship around" for ANOTHER year

I understand MNKD has to get more scripts, and my losses are >100K. But, isn't this entire concept wrong (dinner meetings -> almost bribe)? We mocked at SNY for buying Drs to prescribe their drugs, and blocking Afrezza. We also have to do the same thing to get our drugs sold. If MNKD survives, becomes big, wouldn't they end up trying to protect their turf when a new entrant comes to sell their new drug? I understand the existing environment, and don't have a solution. I'm just saying!

Dinner meetings are for drug discussion with KOL as regular doc hours docs are bz with patients

Believe it or not, depending on the location of the people attending - a good flight/hotel/event package in LV could cost the same or less than doing it on the West or East Coast onsite. They'd still have to fly people around, house and feed them, etc. So likely, they can do this efficiently. Now if they book a private view of Cirque .. that's a different story.

This morning, on Mannkindcorp.com in the careers section it shows 34 Area Business Manager positions which is what Mannkind calls their sales people. When Mannkind was using Touchpoint, I believe the number of Touchpoint sales people they originally indicated were going to be selling Afrezza was far greater than the actual number of sales people that Touchpoint had on board. My concern now is that Mannkind indicated that there would be 95 sales people, all Mannkind emplyoyees selling Afrezza. If the 34 positions currently on Mannkinds website have not been filled, then we are short 36% of the salesforce. Typically for a situation such as this, the company would want the entire sales team at this weeks meeting. Realistically there could be a few open territories or a few good reps that could not start this week. But if it really is a 36% vacancy rate, I would be concerned. Can anyone shed light on this with facts vs speculation? Thanks,

Feb 1 call- Mike said 10-12 more would be hired.
Is it possible there were 120 openings but only going to fill 90?

But I believe that Mike Castagna would have a plan that targets sales areas in order of importance. They would focus on building the sales team in areas from most important to least. Not that any sales area is unimportant. For instance, if it was me, I would focus my sales teams first on areas that have the best insurance coverage. That way when doctors get on board, patients immediately obtain Afrezza. In the most recent conference call, Mike C. indicated that the sales areas broke down into 3 categories, each about a third of the whole. In one, new prescriptions were growing, one they were holding steady and the other was dropping. I'm sure they will use this information to properly deploy the staff that is hired and scale up as more staff is hired.

I'm just saying! This meeting is training sales representatives who are calling on doctors. They may have some doctors there for the training but they were not there selling to them. The doctors who might be there or working to help educate the sales reps. So they are not buying doctors meals. This is a training event.
