Just saying, a standard meal for a kid is 15 minutes and they are dosing 10 minutes into the meal. So have not needed a follow up on most occasions.

Ppallap - Digger raises a good point - you're doctor is probably referring to type 2s having high insulin resistance and therefore usually require considerably more insulin to control their sugar.
So what did your doctor do? She gave you Metformin and Januvia. Neither add insulin to your system and only further stress a pancreas which is not making enough insulin to start.
Any dosage of afrezza you take is a net positive even if you under-dose. However taking enough afrezza alone will get the liver back in sync and the chance of a hypo are about the same as a non-diabetic per the 118 study. The lesson of 118 is always go big.
As a first step with your doctor why don't you suggest getting an AGP with the Libre and see what she says. You want to know what the profile looks like for a few weeks prior to starting afrezza or any RAA. If she is also opposed to that I would be concerned.

Peppy Please see thread "When should Afrezza be inhaled?". Unless sugars are high just before the meal, best to inhale Afrezza AFTER meal starts. bac

Peppy Please see thread "When should Afrezza be inhaled?". Unless sugars are high just before the meal, best to inhale Afrezza AFTER meal starts. bac So did the STAT study make a mistake always having patients take afrezza before a meal? One thing the description on clinicaltrials doesn't make clear is whether patients adjusted the dose according to their glucose reading before the meal. Normally, the diabetic calculates the dose both to correct pre-meal glucose and to anticipate the glucose effect of the meal's contents.

Comments Afrezza’s speed of action is both a blessing and a curse. Clearly, it is a large factor in the safety of the product, but for longer meals, you may need more Afrezza to keep the post prandial levels in check. We recommend follow-on doses. For example, we advise with a standard meal to dose Afrezza 15-20 minutes after the start of the meal, and then another dose of the same size about 45 minutes later. With very long meals, we have even advised patients to administer two follow-on doses, for very tight control.
