For many of you this may be old information, but I felt this deserved grouping together and repeating, as it got buried under w whole lot of less important information. Dr. Robert Ratner is Chief Scientific and Medical Officer at ADA, the most widely known diabetes related organization worldwide. Among other duties, he oversees the development of the ADA 'Clinical Practice Recommendations'. www.diabetes.org/about-us/who-we-are/staff/robert-ratner.htmlHe has spoken on behalf of Afrezza at the ADCOM (starting at 5:05): www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylin1ZSDo0oHe also wrote an article about some of the unique benefits of Afrezza: diabetesstopshere.org/2014/07/14/no-more-needles/It is good to remember that the very top of experts like Dr Ratner are supporting Afrezza, and are aware of its unique benefits. PCP's and endo's will eventually find themselves between many informed patients on one hand (such as those on tudiabetes) and experts like Dr Ratner on the other hand. Irrational and unfounded fears can only hold out for so long. I eagerly await Dr Ratner to include Afrezza (or ultra rapid insulin in general) into the official ADA recommendations. On a side note - is it not surprising (and a little infuriating) the ADA's own forums (http://community.diabetes.org) have basically chased away anybody seeking rational discussion about Afrezza away, pitchforks in hand? In complete disregard of their own best expert Dr Ratner, I might add. How can such a thing be allowed if it keeps diabetics from improving their treatment? In my opinion, it is quite unethical. An independent forum like TuDiabetes shows how to do it right by allowing open minded members discussing and analyzing Afrezza. They are truly now on the cutting edge and defining future treatment. Maybe ADA can pay attention, they might learn something ... sbs
