Torrey Pines and MannKind already have a partnership. Yes. Strange that some frequent posters see this as news and post it as if this is a big new thing. A bit like Teva and now Pfizer (because they have an address in Connecticut: what?). What is missing from this pain partnership is $ to actually move this partnership forward. Maybe someone will make a commection with a Swiss company because there are banks in Switzerland and there is money in those banks. Onvious right? It's sad that we are left to reading the tone of a press release to gather clues to what is going on. There seems to be almost a comcensus that Hakan was fired. What if it wasn't Hakan who 'screwed up' but Mannind and Hakan couldn't support what Mannkind was doing? Whay if his departure is a sign of something rotten in Mannkind? It seems Hakan and BoD had a difference of opinion on a material event (e.g. licensing/partnerships) and Hakan stepped down when his proposed deal/strategy was vetoed by the board. Hakan stated he wants a "portfolio" of smaller deals. This strategy would be very expensive for shareholders but give Hakan years of salary as CEO. The BoD likely wants a grand-slam deal. License the tech to a single large partner - take a big payday soon and put their feet up and wait for royalties to trickle in with most of the risk in the hands of a large partner.

It does seem that there is a group of online posters that enjoy connecting dots that frankly don't connect. And if i recall, Torrey Pines is/was having financial difficulties too and that put the pain trials it had hoped to start in 2014 on ice. I would suggest you look who Torrey Pines is. If you did you would understand why your comment is not particlulary fair to TP. I would also postulate that your posting history makes me believe you are simply throwing stuff hoping something sticks (and you sadly have an embarrasment of riches to creat FUD out of right now!). Is this FUD? www.tcpalm.com/news/shaping-our-future/torrey-pines-burning-through-cash-and-employees-state-reports-show-ep-932454041-332821171.htmlIs that not the same torrey pines we both speak of? Where you not aware of this issue?

Well this "partnership", for all who'd like to call it such, is sure doing us a lot of good [sarcasm intended]. This "thing" with Torrey Pines has been known for many years, and whether it's beginning to pick up steam or not, will have no material effect on whether MNKD survives the short term. I don't think this topic was worthy of its own thread, just more [inedible] fodder for us to drool over during this trying time. Is this also FUD? mnkd.proboards.com/thread/1295/torrey-pines

Torrey Pines is a non profit and not ever set up to be a phase 3 partner... Where you not aware of that? I would suggest you read your own reference!

Slightly off-topic: If you have never seen the WIPO website that lists all of a company's international patents, I have posted a link to MannKind's WIPO profile in the Resources folder, where you will find MannKind patents in Israel, Spain, Singapore, Europe, etc., many of which were filed in 2015. MannKind appears to be actively filing international patents. The site might become a great resource for some of us exuberant pumpers... I have been watching these patents intently. in 2012ish when ALU was going broke, they made a deal with goldman sack, loan at 6% and goldman held the patents as collateral. Goldman also had a team working at the salvation plan. interesting, as loan collateral and all

However, even a strategic play announcement on TS will help tactically to be sure. We are in such a deep deep communication hole since the embarrassment of riches comment that even a sniff, a slight glimpse, a small tibit of news that someone, anyone, wants to leverage Mnkd technology for their therapeutics will be welcome. Very very welcome.

Sorry for being a buzzkill earlier, but I just think it's silly to bring back this sort of oldddd news when the glaring 3,000lb elephant in the room [our immediate survival] is in need of immediate attention at the moment. I need to take longer breaks from all things MNKD for more than just a few hours during my day; I think I clocked a solid 8hrs today where the thought [MNKD] didn't even cross my mind, it was quite pleasant actually.

I know we all know that MNKD has had a partnership with TP's for a long time. I am not saying this is any big news, but I do like the fact that there is movement. Looking at the Event History shows; Event history: EP2776053

Am I dreaming this or did the company file a patent application in Asia just a few weeks ago for the same (pain)? First Asia, now Europe? Anyone remember that?

Not sure about that but I don't get overly excited about patents as that's done routinely to protect one's products and done way in advance. I'll get excited and do a little dance for my wife if and when there is actual news of a real product and hopefully with a real partner ready to be sold. Unfortunately, that's a long ways off.

It's important to understand that Torrey Pines is a partner ONLY in co-developing an opioid pain relief medication with MannKind's Technosphere delivery system.
Torrey Pines is NOT a pharmaceutical company that has the cash to develop and/or marketing this co-patented pain medication. It is a research institute. Both Torrey Pines and MannKind Corporation would need to find and sign a big pharmaceutical company (BP) to fund the regulatory (FDA/EMEA) trials and, assuming approval, to market it globally.
This happens to be one of the API types - a unique API that has never been approved - that Hakan once said is the most expensive and would take the longest to develop into a marketable product.
MannKind has other API that can exit the pipeline much faster and cheaper than this opioid, IMHO.

You are right and why Torrey Pines did this: www.tpims.org/newsdidn't Mannkind once mention smoking cessation as a possible TS indication? I would think we might hear something between these two.

And what homework I didn't do? So a spin off of a non profit with no funding (a non profit opening up a spin off? Wow how rares and novel...) is going to help Mannkind bring a drug to market. All we are missing now is a few 100 millions to get this going. Check this out www.tpims.org/donateIt that is their business plan for raising funds? And their focus seems to be on smoke cessation more than pain. Hmmm...
