That's $18k of his own money put in. He put in a lot of his own money around the summer of 2016. Mike is young, and he has stated that he is not indepedently wealthy. I don't think this is money he is comfortable throwing away. I think Mike is all in on this company, and that gives me optimism as a shareholder.

With respect to the other thread about him being at a Ferrari dealership in Dubai, maybe someday these 8,000 shares will buy him a Ferrari!

I guess this is positive, but it's seemingly more of a token buy and also signals that there is no major developments/partnerships in the near future.

Mike C stated in his interview with Motley Fool that he'd purchase shares, if he could. Under what circumstances would he be prohibited from purchasing them? The situation seems to have changed since then, if what he implied is/was indeed the case.

Some companies have windows of when employees can purchase shares (usually after earnings reports).  Of course, the speculation was that he said that because there was some sort of deal/partnership being worked on the background in which case executives certainly couldn't purchase shares without getting hit for insider trading.  It's clear that that is off the table now.

Why the 30 days?

  It's an SEC rule and perhaps it's longer than 30 days. IDK but I know it exists. Try'd to find it on the SEC website but no luck.
