He talked about Mike, about David Kendall coming over, about this being a new time for MNKD, about insurance barriers.

I listened in. He is up beat as we all are with Dr. Kendall. I believe he said that it appears like insurance barriers are coming down. He feels like we might finally be in a new era for the company. The MannKind portion was quick.

Very good summary, also I learned all about why the market crashed this morning and they’re also ..Trump is working on something about the pharmacies did you catch that central ?

He said that he watching what the Trump White House is doing with the rebates that big pharma (PB) pays to the Plan Benefit Managers (PMBs). If there is a crack down on the rebates that is good for MannKind. Mike Castagna has mentioned before how frustrating it is that BPs can lock everyone else out by providing rebates on best selling drugs. There is no way to compete against that when you have a new drug that has low volumes.

I wonder if it is possible to write off the insured market and to make a market from people who are paying out of pocket or high deductable. This isn't something that is really done in the US health market, but price your product like this was Europe - $25 per month. That is what the Europe pays for RAA so realistically if we cannot match that things are going to get difficult in the future in a whole lot of countries anyway. The PBMs would stop the pharmas from lowering their prices because then the PBMs would lose their margins, the pharmas are riding a tiger in the PBMs. If pharmas can make money off selling insulin in the UK to a population 10% of the size of the US how can Mannkind not make money selling to that single segment? Surely that segment is larger than the UK market (For the record; I don't know if it is, I just feel it should be).

In contrast to campaign rhetoric, the current White House administration is tight with Big Pharma. BP will get it’s way in every significant policy decision, it’s already started to happen.
But that doesn’t mean Nate isn’t right about MNKD entering a new (and better) era. Nate has been consistent, and a lot of his rep is staked on it now.
