From what I can tell Mannkind is experimenting/discontinuing some package assortments. For instance I was told by my PA that I can no longer order a pack of 30-4 units/60-8 units. Instead I needed to order the 90-4 units/90-8 units. They also had a 60-4 units / 30-8 units that I believe was also discontinued. Interesting.

Thanks for the link. It shows they discontinued some of their combos.

Thanks for the link. It shows they discontinued some of their combos. yes, MNKD has changed their packages. They should not change again. The ordering night mare should end. the Sanofi change/mnkd sku numbers. then the addition of the titration packs. Now the new package configurations.

Exactly right Peppy! Evidently this is way too complicated for the pharmacists:-(

You'll notice that mgt has added the Total Units for each package. The previous mgt forgot that little detail, forcing doctors and pharmacists to have to find a calculator to figure out monthly prescriptions.

Okay, maybe I'm lazy, but that conversion seems confusing. So if I were taking 1 unit of humalog, I would replace it with 1.5 units of afrezza? How do I do that if afrezza only comes in 4, 8, 12 unit doses?

You take the next higher dose. Since Afrezza clears the body quickly, there's little danger of a hypo.

The trial data showed that if a Type 1 took twice the insulin they should have they were certain to get a hypo so if you would normally take 2 units and you take 4 then you could well wind up in trouble. There was a good chance of a hypo for a Type 2, but it isn't 100% like for Type 1. The fix is to eat some candy (there is an old diabetic saying that it's a shame to waste a hypo... )

Exactly right Peppy! Evidently this is way too complicated for the pharmacists:-( I had an idea a long time ago that MNKD should make their dosages as easy to adjust as the injectable insulins. Injectable insulin dosages can be adjusted by turning a dial at the end of the pen. This allows for simplified manufacturing and packaging, which benefits patients, pharmacists, and doctors alike. It makes sense to keep the titration packs to give patients a feel for Afrezza, but once dialed in, they should have the freedom to adjust as desired. Pharmacists don't want to keep slower moving product on the shelves, doctors don't want to have to calculate quantities, and patients don't want to end up with a bunch of cartridges that they rarely use and end up rigging the device anyway. It's a minor inconvenience, admittedly, but an inconvenience nonetheless. I wish MNKD would do everything they can to make the process as easy/easier than RAAs. It might be overstated to say they're shooting themselves in the foot, but they really need to get this figured out.
