Over the last 6 months I’ve been talking about Afrezza to a woman at the bank I do business at.
The first time she asked her Endo about it, the doctor told her she had heard about it but it wasn’t approved for Type I and there was a lung cancer risk.
Three months ago I told her to go to the website and learn for herself, that her Endo was wrong.
Today she told me that she insisted that her Endo prescribe it for her. She plans to get the lung function test soon and give it a try if she can get insurance coverage. I also told her about MannKind Cares and the help they can provide with P.O. and a co-pay card if necessary.

Update: I talked to this woman again Sat. morning. Her Endo is still resistant to writing the script for Afrezza but she said her Primary Care will write it for her. She still hasn’t found out if her insurance will cover it. When I told her about about the cash pay program and the enhanced co-pay card, she really got excited.
I sent her all the links for the programs as well as user and Dr. Edelman’s videos. I think this will finally get her off the dime and give Afrezza a try.

Most people I know have gotten their scripts from their primary care doctor with the exception of Tom’s son who got most of his scripts through his pediatric Endo. Off-label. His first script originally was from a primary care. The others I know that have gotten prescriptions from their Endo’s are pretty much all strong businessman. And won’t take no for an answer. Of course there’s a lot of exceptions I just don’t know them personally.

This whole process conjures up images of the Big Bang theory. Just one spark, the right spark, and Afrezza will go viral. I don’t know what that spark will be, whether a celebrity endorsement, targeted marketing campaign, new FDA label, ADA concession, etc. it just seems the world could use Afrezza in a big way, but the roadblocks have been daunting.

I completely agree! Years ago I had this e-cigarette stock I was looking at and I just had a hunch they would be a big deal. I remember telling my girlfriend about it and she says, “oh my husband’s been using those for two years” and I’m like what ..and you just never mentioned it? And that was a few years before they went viral.

I would say it's more like nuclear explosion. We are currently in the phase of accumulating enough mass before the chain reaction starts. Once the the chain reaction starts, it will be quick and self sustained.

They would rather have new patients stumble down the broken standard of care path to failure using all sorts of toxic meds known to cause cancer, crotch rot, amputations and loss of sight. Personally I have little faith in in the medical field due to repeated stories like this.

Last evening I talked to a woman I have known for about 8 years who became a T1 in her late 50’s.
I have mentioned Afrezza to her over the last few years and she politely told me thanks but she was not interested in making any changes to her treatment plan. I think the subtle message was that I was not a doctor and I shouldn’t be making such a suggestion. So the last time I mentioned Afrezza to her was over a year ago.
After seeing the Dr. Edelman recent video and the “I admit it” video, I couldn’t help but mention Afrezza to her again last night. I asked her if it would be ok for me to send her two short videos, made by doctors, about Afrezza. She said sure but also said that she was reluctant to make any changes. So I sent her both videos last night and this morning I got a note back from her that said they were very interesting and she will ask her doctor about it at her next appointment. But she then said insurance coverage will have a big effect on if she ever tries it. I followed with another note with the links for the cash pay and copay card programs.
Maybe I finally got her to seriously consider it.

I was standing in line at Home Goods at Christmas and there was this woman in front of me talking about being diabetic, and so I said, “So are you on the new inhalable stuff? Afrezza”. And she said, “what new inhalable stuff?” I said it’s the mealtime insulin that you can take right when you begin your meal. It comes in a little inhaler. She said, no why in the world didn’t my doctor not tell me about this? I said how old is he? Ha ... she laughed and said, to old! I told her that every diabetic I know is on it:-)) We didn’t have much time to talk, but she was definitely going to pursue getting a script. I showed her my Twitter account real quick so that she could get all the information from there.

They have prescriptions to get it. I also gave them info on the DPP and the Savings Card. One of them went to VDEX in Ca. but was not convinced about a year ago. The more they see (ie TV Ads) the more they will become familiar and willing to try. I believe once they are on it they will not go back. I do agree - PWDs do not want to talk about their condition nor take recommendations from Non-Diabetics.

It is difficult and depends on so many things. One of the PWD I've mentioned it to several times, including after the special pricing program announcement, said they talked to their Endo about it and the "Endo thought it was a good product but not for me because I have so much sinus troubles and so many low blood sugars he also said that I would need to use two dosages or something like that with all the insulin I take. I think he did say it was not approved by health alliance yet." I've tried to pass along info and videos and friendly email prompts but want to keep it friendly. I have bunny ears on my TV and have not seen any MNKD commercials in central Illinois, maybe it would help if my friends saw the commercials?

What does the sinus issue have to do with inhaling afrezza?
Since your friend has so many low BGs it sounds like afrezza would be the perfect fit. I have never understood the myth about it being bad to second dose 90 minutes later with afrezza. After watching the Dr. Pettus video he also saw it as a benefit allowing easy dosing and better control.
Maybe the Endo needs to see the Dr. Pettus video.

If he's using bunny ears it sounds like he doesn't have cable or a satellite dish and therefore can't get Fox News (or CNN or MSNBC or any other cable network).
