Rules of the Board
The following are the board rules. They will be and are subject to modification and recommendation. They are a work in progress. If commenting on a rule, please reference it by paragraph number.
Posts violating any rules are subject to immediate removal, usually without notification. Such repeated violations will result in escalating penalties of "time off" from the board. If you're finding your posts are disappearing and you don't know why, we suggest you contact a staff member and ask.
Thanks.
1. Application
1.1. Poster
1.1.1. Any participant of the board.
1.2. Moderator
1.2.1. Any participant of the board who has moderator rights. They are also posters and subject to the same rules.
2. Ignorance is not a defense.
2.1. Ignorance of the rules is not a defense.
3. Insults, Name Calling, Sarcasm, Baiting
3.1. Personal insults and name calling of any kind will not be allowed.
3.2. Members who come from other boards to taunt, bait, razz, or cause trouble of a similar nature (busy work for the staff) will have the same done to them.
4. Spamming, ALL CAPS, Copy/Paste, Inaccessible Links
4.1. Spamming the board with repeated threads of any kind is not permitted. Only one thread is needed to get your point across. If you have multiple points / sentences / subjects, put them all in one post. Multiple short posts in a row is considered spamming. [Remember you have 60 minutes after posting to go back and edit your post!]
4.1.1. Any OT post that is deemed by the staff to be purely promotional in nature will be considered spam and result in moderation action. If this was a member's initial post, that action will be an immediate, summary permanent ban.
4.2. USING ALL CAPS IS NOT PERMITTED. IT IS THE EQUIVALENT OF YELLING. YOUR POSTS AND THREADS WILL BE DELETED WITH A PM TO YOU TO TURN OFF YOUR CAPSLOCK i.e. 4.2. Caps lock. Repeat offenders will be assigned temp bans 24 - 72 hours.
4.3. When posting a link - If everyone can follow the link without encountering a registeration/pay wall, then the link itself is sufficient. Otherwise, the full text in question should be provided (along with the link.)
4.4. AI-generated text: The posting of "chatbot" query results is permitted, but only with the following restrictions:
a. The specific chatbot and exact query text used must be specified in the post
b. The generated text must be enclosed within a "Quote" tag (the "Insert Quote" button is between the "Insert Code"
and "Insert Smiley" buttons at the top of the composition window)
5. Moderators
5.1. Moderators are selected due to the fairness and logical thinking that they have represented through out their posting history.
5.2. Moderators are still entitled to their opinions and may post as they please.
5.3. Moderators may move threads when necessary. The moderating system has accountability by moderators in place and is not a topic open for discussion in the forums.
5.4. PMs (Private Messages) from moderators are not to be reposted to any forum. If you receive a PM from a moderator regarding some form of moderation, it was not meant for the forums. Had it been meant for all to see, then the moderator would have posted it publicly for you. Reposting private messages from moderators will earn you a vacation of no less than 3 days.
6. Posting, Re-posting, Thread and post removal.
6.1. Any re-posting of articles/blog posts/etc. from other web sites should include a link to the source site, preferably at the top of the post. If for some reason it is not possible to post a link (or the link requires a paid subscription), then an explanation for the lack of a link (or why it might not work for everybody) is required.
6.1.1. Any article and/or photo that is protected by copyright against re-publishing without a publisher or author providing written permission is not allowed to be re-printed / re-posted on ProBoards for legal reasons and may be deleted immediately.
6.1.2. Certain publishers allow re-printing of articles/abstracts provided a reference is included that credits the article to the original publisher. When re-posting text from such publications, the required author reference or link to the publication must be provided. Failure to include any required references within any re-posted article/abstract may result in deletion of the re-post.
6.1.3. Posting of links should be accompanied by your reason for posting them, i.e. why you think the news item is relevant. This is not necessary for official press releases relating to the company being discussed or its partners, or for posts in threads specifically discussing other social media venues. Any other links posted without any commentary are subject to removal.
6.2. Off Topic threads should be posted in the Off-Topic forum, but we're not going to be Nazi-like about this. The staff will simply move an OT thread to the appropriate forum when they feel like it.
6.3. Religion/Politics - Religious or political threads (or individual posts, or avatars, or any profile text) are discouraged and may be deleted immediately without justification from the moderator who deletes the thread.
6.4. Soliciting Business - Threads started to solicit business are generally not allowed. There are some occasions when known board members are allowed to discuss their outside interests.
6.5. Editing / Deleting of Posts - The board is configured to allow members to edit and/or delete their own posts for a period of 60 minutes after the initial posting.
6.5.1. Editing of Posts -The 60-minute editing window is provided as a courtesy to support simple correction of typos and other errors; it should not be used to add or remove significant content, although occasionally it may be appropriate to add a comment by preceding it with "EDIT:"
7. Malicious logic.
7.1. Any poster who uploads or directs other posters to malicious logic of any kind may be banned immediately. Malicious logic is defined as, “A program implemented in hardware, firmware, or software, and that its purpose is to perform some unauthorized or harmful action.”
8. Nudity and pornography.
8.1. Posters are not allowed to sit at the computer while naked.
8.2. Posters will not post images of a sexually explicit nature. Sexually explicit is defined as anything showing a nipple, areola, scrotum, penis, or vagina or the cartoon, sketch, drawing, or 2-D or 3-D rendering or the likeness thereof.
9. Profanity.
9.1. Profanity may be used with the board's filters.

This includes phrases such as, "I would love to meet you in an alley sometime." < When in a negative context.
10.2. Telling someone to kill themselves or shoot themselves - Account disabled for 100 days.
11. Trouble threads.
11.1. Threads started (or posts made) only to inform the moderation of an issue such as how they think they should run the board, or any other situation that should be handled by PM, are discouraged and may be deleted. An individual post on a thread that is considered advice to moderators can be removed as well. Issues pertaining to actions by staff members should be taken up via direct DM to an active staff member.
12. Personal information.
12.1. Personal information obtained while registering for the board will be kept private. Moderators will use the information when performing board duties only. This information will not be given to a third party.
12.2. Posting another member's personal information of any kind (names, locations) will not be tolerated without that members express and written consent.
12.3. If a poster talks about his family or kids, that is their prerogative. No one else will talk about another member's family or kids in a derogatory manner.
12.4. Violations of any section 12 rule will result in the immediate banning of the violating member.
13. Multiple Accounts
13.1. Posters utilizing multiple accounts to dodge banning, manipulate poll results, increase their smiting/exhalting actions etc., will have their older account/s disabled upon discovery. Administration spends a modicum of time determining this type of violation. If you are clever enough to avoid detection, then more power to you.
13.2. The additional accounts of anyone with a primary account may be disabled at any time by a moderator.
14. Conflict Resolution and Revocation of membership
14.1. The staff will make every reasonable effort to resolve conflicts that arise between members and staff, as well as between members. What constitutes "reasonable effort" will be determined by the staff.
14.2. Members who are deemed to be an excessive burden to the staff may have their membership privileges revoked at any time, with no prior explanation required.
15. Cybercide
15.1 If a member commits cybercide (deletes their own account), the staff has the option of permanently banning that member by IP from future re-registration, and will do so at their discretion.
NOTE: If a member wishes to voluntarily have their account disabled for any reason, please PM a staff member and we can arrange for that to be done without completely deleting the account, which creates administrative headaches for the staff.
The following are the board rules. They will be and are subject to modification and recommendation. They are a work in progress. If commenting on a rule, please reference it by paragraph number.
