I hold a larg position in MNKD (IMHO) and am down quite a lot. I would love to see the pps hit $20 next week, but I am looking to 2015 and we can see what Alfred E. Mann can accomplish in his last business endeavor. Mannkind will be his last one and he will excel.
Only my humble opinion.

david, give it a chance! It's Sunday evening, and not every member of the board has had a chance to see your question in the first 15 minutes after you posted it.
So why the focus on the short term? Probably because everyone is already aware of the long-term outlook (positive), and if that's all that somebody is looking at, they're basically going to be ignoring the short-term fluctuations or perhaps following them only for their entertainment value. But some folks trade the stock, or at least trade part of their investment while holding the rest for the long run. To these folks (and I'm in the latter category myself), short-term PPS movement means money!
We don't discriminate here based on time horizons. It's all grist for the mill.

Afrezza has been delayed long enough.
Also, in my opinion, this will not be Mann's last. I suggest you read my "If I were a billionaire..." just posted.

I'm not a trader, but there are real problems that will start arising if a partnership isn't obtained reasonably soon. That would allow the shorts to push the stock down. As Mannkind's cash dwindles the value of the shelf registration they have would diminish with a dropping share price and their negotiating position with be harmed.
Especially having just bought 120 million euro worth of insulin, I think they need to have an answer this earnings call as to when they are going to have a sales force.

Especially having just bought 120 million euro worth of insulin... So do you really think they would have bought $120 M of insulin without a partner??? This move told me everything I need to know.

That was my point. I think the only way to adequately justify that financial commitment is to say that they have a partner. I suppose they could give some concrete "we will have a partner by xx" and it would need to be reasonably quick. I can't think of a reason why they would have inked the insulin deal first. It seems they could have easily put that off until after a partner was secured, so I'm guessing this is after the partner has been secured already.

I think a partner, since approval, is a given - the real key that drives short term PPS will be who's the partner and what's the deal!

Perhaps part of the issue is a lot of us have a sizable amount in a company that in August of 2013 was trading at 8.29 a share and now a year later we are less than that. Money has been tied up for a year and we are no closer to making money than a year ago. I guess it depends on a timeline. Should I invest in ARWR PBYI (!) ICPT (!) or MNKD who is just trudging along. At some point they have to show me some money or it is time to move along.

No, I have been it much longer.
I have gone through numerous highs/lows with this company. Many CRL's, lawsuits, pre adcom, after adcom, pumping to my friends....you name it - I have been in this stock for the long haul. every step of the painful way.
You name it, MNKD has seen me through it! I have learned a lot about biotech from MNKD for which I am thankful.
I have made money off of PBYI and ICPT many times over sometimes in a matter of minutes.
I invested in MNKD because I have a family member who would like some relief with current diabetes treatment. But lack of communication from management and the constant selling of stock from insiders makes it hard to be the constant cheerleader for the company.
I appreciate greatly this board that gives relief from the crazies at yahoo, but am disappointed that no one on this board can say we are tired.
Let's just do it now!

The board is a like a fountain of energy- sometimes you just need a few sips. I am sure people are tired, but at this point-also use to it. We all know what we signed on for. It's biotech and a roller coaster.
The good stuff is coming...
