♥️ IT HARRY!!!! This is exactly what Afrezza is..
For those that don't know... My dad had a stroke about a month ago .. I believe with all of my heart that if dad had been allowed to stay on Afrezza the stroke may never have happened..
The reason I believe this is because after he started on Afrezza his body responded by dropping weight.. blood pressure went down. And he felt better..more energy. and I believe this is because Afrezza is bioidentical to human insulin.
I believe RAA is poisen.. thank God we've had RAA all of these years.. But Afrezza is a new chance at life with diabetes.. pwd don't have to poisen themselves anymore ..
WAKE UP Endos!!!!
My heart is heavy.. 😪

It's hard to read that sweedee. I hope your dad is recovering. Surely now he can get back on Afrezza, given how much better he responded to it than the RAA?

Sweedee - so sorry about your Dad. Diabetes is a major cause of atherosclerosis which is a major cause of strokes. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2674740/Al Mann talked about a study which should afrezza stopping T2 progression and in some cases reversal. I would be finding a good lawyer. Why the ADA does not have afrezza featured in the SOC is a head scratcher. It should be step 1 for T2s. Why his insurance company would not cover it is a head scratcher and now they are dealing with the costs associated with the stroke. Why his doctor did not fight harder is a head scratcher. I thought the motto was "do no harm". Not having afrezza was clearly harm. I think there is enough data now on afrezza for a good lawyer to have a field day as your Dad is not alone.

Based on Sweedee's previous posts, I thought the problem now was Alzheimer's related. Nothing really to do with insurance or SOC or atherosclerosis. <insert puzzled smiley>

Al Mann talked about a study which should afrezza stopping T2 progression, but it has never been seen or published. I would have thought Dr Kendall would have been all over that. Anyway, good luck suing on the basis of a doctor not having read an unpublished trial on Afrezza. The ADA should have Afrezza at the same level as RAA in the guidance. Dr Kendall should have sorted that out by now. The ADA is extremely clear on their methodology, there is no way it gets to be step 1 without a large scale trial. Insurance doesn't cover it because they make more money covering RAA. Additionally since Afrezza is not proven superior to RAA they cannot be forced to cover it in just they same way that they cannot be forced to cover Apidra - RAA and Afrezza are equivalent according to the trial data.

Have you ever had someone close to you suffer a stroke? And, since when does having dementia wipe out the effects of diabetes (though not applicable here)? You should be ashamed for even thinking such a thing, much less posting it......
Sweedee, my heart goes out to you and your family...

Why was he not allowed to stay in Afrezza? Would this be malpractice forcing a patient off a drug for no reason?

Have you ever had someone close to you suffer a stroke? And, since when does having dementia wipe out the effects of diabetes (though not applicable here)? You should be ashamed for even thinking such a thing, much less posting it...... How on earth is it callous? Perhaps you should reread her own posts on the topic of her father and family before you attack me. If I misread something Sweedee wrote (it is possible) my bad, but my takeaway from Sweedee's posts, such as these mnkd.proboards.com/post/179856mnkd.proboards.com/post/179938was that her father's (non-diabetic) health and life arrangement issues were complicating his diabetes management (and that the issues causing her father difficulty now were not the ones some others had suggested in prior posts). I smh at how quick some are to take offense at innocent comments. My advice (take it or leave it) is to assume the best of people, not the worst, and you will get farther and be happier in life.
