Does anyone know what will happen to Mannkind's stockpile of insulin? Once manufacturing is in place, does the insulin stockpile represents a tangible sum of money, assuming the bulk of it still useable by FDA's standard? SNY will purchase the stock pile once the insulin has been approved by the FDA to be used in the Dreamboat device. This insulin has previously been expensed by MNKD as R & D costs. When you say "purchase", do you mean, also take possession of it....or simply compensate MNKD for its value..?? Have you seen that part of the deal in something published?? Why wouldn't MNKD retain it for use in manufacturing Afrezza..??

Part of the assets that MNKD will contribute is this insulin as well as any other assets they own regarding the Danbury plant. Note some of these assets were previously expensed as R&D expenses. If you are counting cash and excluding the 35% profit sharing, MNKD will received in excess of $1B in cash reimbursements and milestone payments.

I believe any thing and every thing that MNKD has expensed so far (Testing Labs, Almost Entire Danbury Plant, Insulin Stockpile) will be converted in their balance sheet in to attribute to COGS. Meaning, MNKD will add all those costs to the cost of manufacturing Afrezza so that all those items are fully amortized and recovered by three or five years. Essentially what ever investments that they have made in factory, labs and insulin, will come back to MNKD in the form of "Top-UP" COGS to actual current mfg. cost from Sanofi. Ofcourse, the cost that Sanofi pays to MNKD will then become part of the overall cost of selling Afrezza and will be one off the deduction from revenue number to arrive at the profit figure and then MNKD will get 35% of the profit. IN other words, MNKD will get 65% of money they invested in Plant, Insulin and Testing Labs back from Sanofi in terms of COGS in next 3-5 years depending up on how much they amortize every year.
Correct me if I am wrong.

I'm hoping to realize some profits on (hopefully) a bull run this week in order to buy more shares when it dips back down for the next few months. I believe MNKD will run on the news of the partnership along with the impatient shorts covering their positions. I doubt there will be any big price movement until sales begin in 2015.

I think we are going to see alot of longs disguising themselves as short or giving us the impression that the deal will take some time for it to benefit shareholders. Shame that people try to deceive.

After that shite today, my exit strategy is out the door, down to street to the first bar I find...after the call of course. CC at 5pm will dictate how fast I move.

I'm with OOG. Not selling a share yet, although my Jan 15 $12 calls look very perilous right now. Total bullshite. Changed my avatar to fit how the day went for me.

Exit strategy? Well, I've considered hemlock, the classic exit. There's jumping off the Golden Gate. Guns are so messy and loud. Hey, how about OD'ing on Afrezza? Oh, the levels of irony. I can almost never infer your posts baba. Would you be kind enough to try in simple English. Sorry, harshal, I'm a bit old to change my ways. Just understand the general rule that the posts that you don't quite get, are meant to be sarcastic or funny. I know this is serious business around here, but we all process and deal with it in our own ways. By the way, speaking of simple English, I've yet to hear the word "infer" used as you did!
