I have always thought the VA contract could be an excellent place for a concentrated and inexpensive effort for Mike's team to aquire patients. About 2 years ago I sent him a list of about 30 doctors and nurse practioners I put together who are associated with the San Diego VA. The list included the names, addresses and telephone numbers. He thanked me and forwarded it to the rep he had covering San Diego. The rep called me and asked if I had anymore information or personal contacts with the people on the list. I think Mike also spoke to Dr. Edelman who also works with the VA here in San Diego. Apparently with the retooling of the sales team the effort died as I haven't heard of any progress. The VA's diabetics are often smokers or former smokers so they would have to be examined in person by a VA professional. That would be outside tele medical services, but the VA population accross the US would be a great place to establish a cost effective marketing presence IMHO.

They wouldn’t have to be seen by the VA if they use medical services outside the VA that are partnered with them and is extended access. This is where DiaVet comes in. Smokers would get a script and we’d just follow the lung function closely. This idea is for the new reform bills that are currently in the process of getting passed. Vets won’t have to be limited to VA they will be able to go to a civilian clinic that is partnered with VA that allows vets to use their health insurance and VA benefits all the same through that entity outside the VA.

I am a veteran and I am going in for blood work and urine tests this morning for my annual physical next week. My previous doctor there retired so I'll be seeing his replacement. If he's not too busy, I'll ask him if they are offering Afrezza.
I'm considered a disabled veteran so I receive minimal medication pertaining to this for free. I do pay for other non related drugs. i.e. eye drops. All the services that I receive has been free. The VA here is seeing a lot more veterans than they did in previous years.
But, that's mytakeonit

Traffic going into Tripler/VA base is totally nuts. Cars are backed up for a mile almost to the freeway. I guess all veterans have to go there beside active military and the facility is over filled. Security is also over worked because they are yelling at people. If they acted like that in Vietnam, they would have been fragged. (Not so much at the gate shack ... more like the security guys where you go to get a pass or ID card made up.)
I reflected this to the nurses and you could see it in their eyes ... response was "Yes, they are !"
But, that's mytakeonit ... and the nurses.

I don't know about the VA, but Amazon are rolling out their telemedicine service for employees. At the moment it's just Seattle. I particularly like the home visits part of it.

I saw the Amazon Care announcement today and thought of Dachis a few years back at the annual meeting saying how he was going to work a deal for OneDrop and afrezza with Amazon. I hope he comes through with the deal and can work a deal with the VA too.

Update on my VA blood work. They mailed me a print out of the results and I received a "satisfactory" rating. What it doesn't say is that ... my numbers hasn't changed in 50 years since they gave me a disabled veteran rating of 30%.
But, that's mytakeonit

Okay, went to the VA today to see my new doctor. Turns out that I didn't get to see the doctor who replaced my original doctor, but got to see a younger doctor with a strong accent. Maybe of Vietnamese extraction? Anyway, he seemed well trained and understood what my previous care was. The thing that made it exciting was that I had to park farther away and got quite a bit of exercise getting there. I was a half hour early, but as soon as I checked in ... they took me in. The nurse checked my blood pressure and said "What is this??!!!" My reading was like 238/93. "Well, I did tell you that I just ran in." So, wait a minute and took another reading. 190/90 . Then another minute and I got to see the doctor. He looked at my blood work numbers and said it looked good ... but, what is this 190? He took another reading and he had 160/88. Remember that is is only like 5 or 6 minutes and my heart was still pumping. So, he will increase the strength of a pill that I'm taking and we'll check my reading again in a couple of weeks. Am I worried No. Been there, done that. Anyway, I got to ask this new, young doctor is he has heard about Afrezza. "What is that?" I reply that it is an inhalable insulin. He looks kind of in shock ... because I'm asking him questions that he doesn't know the answer. Anyway, I write Afrezza on a piece of paper and told him to check it out. So, probably will see him in a few months and I can quiz him. Ha! And that's what today was like. BUT, still up 6 cents. But, that's mytakeonit
