"The insulin comes in a cartridge like this; it is placed in the device almost like a puzzle piece," said Dr. Michelle Welch, of Diabetes and Metabolism Specialists San Antonio. mydmsweightloss.com/our-team/

I wonder which oral medication she was on as a T1? That was curious. Sometimes they prescribe metformin in addition to insulin as it can help if you are getting insulin resistance. There is no drug I am aware of that can replace insulin though. I think that was an script error.

Who knows maybe at some point afrezza will be her only insulin like Mike Joyce.

Looking at the pill if that video is real and not just a clip then that's a capsule, not a pill, and metformin is almost always a pill. I don't see why she shouldn't be able to go to just Afrezza although she will still need a basal insulin just like Mike Joyce. Here we have a picture of Mike Joyce on the Appalachian Trail taking his daily Tresiba shot;
