Sorry I'm not good at this cut & paste stuff ./ I found this when I googled Sanofi vaccines , I think there will be future opportunities for Mannkind & Sanofi . Kids HATE shots !! I'll just keep reminding myself what Al said re : Technosphere & " Imagine the possibilities "

Then google inhaled vaccines , the first article that pops up is called " The future of Immunization - history of vaccines " Maybe it's because I'm on my IPhone , but I wasn't able to post the direct article link , perhaps Brentie can help me ,) Just a little food for thought on these dark trading days , I'm not letting this get me down , heck I may even start buying more ! My apologies is this has been discussed before but that was my 2nd thought when I heard who the partner was , Sanofi , Vaccines & everybody needs them Lynn

New Delivery Techniques When you think of vaccination, you probably think of a doctor or nurse administering a shot. Future immunization delivery methods, however, may be quite different from what we use today. Inhaled vaccines, for example, are already used in some cases: influenza vaccines have been made in the form of a nasal spray. One of these vaccines is available every year for seasonal flu. Other possibilities include a patch application, where a patch containing a matrix of extremely tiny needles delivers a vaccine without the use of a syringe. This method of delivery could be particularly useful in remote areas, as its application would not require delivery by a trained medical person, which is generally needed for vaccines delivered as a shot by syringe. www.historyofvaccines.org/content/articles/future-immunization

Yes as I recall they do have a flu vaccine with the inhaler system called cricket which is a one time use tool that is around the proverbial corner... And it needs to refrigeration which is crucial to third world distribution where much of this stuff has it's origins in chicken farms etc...

I also looked into vaccines and inhalers and was surprised they hadn't penetrated the market as much as I'd have thought. The technology already exists in aerosols. I think what's holding the technology back is issues with infants and young children.
The current cricket inhaler, for example, wouldn't work (for all age groups) so something new would need to be developed.
Dosing may also be an issue...but I think the main problem is needles would still be needed in many cases and having two delivery methods would increase costs.
I'm not saying it can't be done, but I don't see vaccines as the 'low hanging fruit' for Technosphere.
---- The flu vaccine in Dry Powder form would work, but the people needing the flu shot most are typically the very young or very old. Respitory issues in the elderly may be a problem and dosing in the young.
That said, I'm 38 and have never had a flu shot but I'd be more likely to get the vaccine if getting a shot wasn't a requirement.
I do think a Technosphere flu vaccine would be a hit for medical practitioners. I could see it as a requirement to be a nurse, doctor, etc. because they are exposed and at a higher risk, they would also not want to pass anything on their patents who are already weekend state.

Bummer ! Thanks for taking the time to reply . I sure hope that whenever we finally know the destiny of Mannkind the journey will have been worth it ! I've learned more than I would ever have expected for this being my very first investment . I've always believed that Absolute Power corrupts Absolutely but this has sure been an eye opening experience ./ I'm not selling a single share regardless because I do have faith in Al Mann but this is not what I was expecting to see after unanimous Ad Com , FDA approval & a Partnership ! Gratefully , I am now on vacation & look forward to spending 5 days on the River not thinking about this stock then hopefully I will continue to forget about it until some time next year ,) Lynn

Lynn,
Don't be discouraged with the markets reaction to Afrezza. Remember that Afrezza was built with basically 10 year old technology. From reading through Mannkinds patents it is apparent that Mannkinds R&D efforts haven't been standing still. Al Mann saw an opportunity with inhaled drugs and Afrezza was the result of their first efforts. For many drugs Technosphere could be the future, and Mannkind has protected it extensively (with patents). I very exited to see what their advancements amount to in future products, right now it's all speculative.
In other words While I call Afrezza inhaled insulin 2.0, it's using Technosphere 1.0.
I think Technosphere has advanced to 2.0 or 3.0 by now. If you think about the adverse events of Afrezza (while not major) or the Technsphere process you see plenty of room for improvements. Those improvement (that I can only speculate on) could unlock enormous potential for Mannkind.
For now we have to curtail expectations, because we don't have enough information but Al slipped up on the last call suggesting process improvements.
Mannkind is by no means a sell, especially at these prices. As your first investment I'd suggest deversifying but don't forget to add to Mannkind as the opportunity presents itself.
