A couple of days ago, in response to some member activity on other boards, I added a rule against complaining about staff action here on other boards. This created some friction and contention, but to be perfectly honest, I managed to convince the staff that it was still the right thing to do under the circumstances...because I believed that.
I was wrong. I could make a bunch of excuses over why I thought the new rule would be useful, but it's a moot point now. I've definitely learned some lessons from these events, and I hope to do a better job in the future as a result of them.
The rule has now been rescinded. The original rule against public complaint here over staff actions still stands, as always.
Thank you to all members for continuing to make this a great place for discussing MNKD, and to my fellow staff members (and especially liane) for giving me enough rope to hang myself, become reborn and keep moving on. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, lol.

Good for you (and I mean it). I just read Winter of the World (Ken Follet) and the first thing the Nazi's did as they were emerging was shut down opposing press.
Keep up the good work. It is much appreciated and how cool is it that you gained a positive learning experience from your volunteer service. Usually the only thing I learn is not to volunteer in the future.

Thanks, EYE-gor . It's been so damn peaceful over on the GMCR board for the two years of its existence that I'm a bit out of practice dealing with actual moderation issues. But there's nothing like jumping in the deep end to bring back dormant skills, lol.
