A question for the Diabetic members (Either type 1 or 2). How easy would it be to incorporate Afrezza into your routine if your doctors were to give you some samples?? How soon would you be able to see preferable/superior results to your old regimen?

Very easy for me. I am a T2, diagnosed for 11 years now. Currently on metformin and Bydureon. I've never had a dangerous hypo, low blood sugar event. I'd think it would be a simple matter of beginning with a consevatively lowish dose with a meal and see what happens. I have used prandial/mealtime insulin in the past and determined that I am quite insulin resistant. I'd be much more comfortable taking larger doses of Afrezza than injected mealtime insulin since it would be out of my system much quicker and would ease fears of blood glucose going too low 4 or 5 hours after injection. I'm already badgering my ARNP to let me try it as soon as it hits the market.

Sampling is an interesting question. IF, and it's a big if, doc are able to give out samples, will they also have to do a lung function test prior to giving out a sample? Could that possibly be a way around doing a lung function test altogether?

I'm not concerned about the lung test-- it's a simple exam. But I think it would be great if patients could get a "free trial" w/ Afrezza. I'm just curious to know how long it would take for the patients to decide/realize that Afrezza is the better solution.

I noticed manufacturing costs went up significantly on the last 10-Q, indicating the production lines have been running through the summer. Samples often come in generic packaging and I think sample packs will be an important component of marketing Afrezza. Patients will get the Sanofi packaging at their pharmacies, but I would be dissappointed if there aren't samples already in the warehouse. Maybe the Sanofi sales reps already have these sample packs as well, for sales visits.

endocrinologist have to play a numbers game; that being an interpretation of evidence that show improvement over a period of time based on consistent use. with that as a formula for guidance good or bad.. the only determination of liking Afrezza would come from the patient who either likes the new method of inhalation or doesn't. My guess is they would; but as far as the affect of replacement to the needle; the patient becomes the doctor noting his blood sugar levels in contrast to previous used meds.
if i were still a marketing guy; I'd give pepsi or coke a piece of the action to include six samples of afrezza with each six pack sold. These companies wouldn't go for because they represent the "corn syrup" demon who is dispensing to a world of people who are ignorant about long term dietary considerations.
bought more shares today. the world is in crisis undermining confidence while the shorts take every advantage as they can and do. This will be short lived... just as every reaction to the market has been from the time I started investing in the market. Reaction time is shorter now because we get information from across the globe almost as fast as Flash traders who have a mili-second advantage.
Breath and feel confident if you are in this for the ride and not just treating MNKD as a commodity. I hear Nova has announced that they are going "all in" regarding their diabetes medication focus. I think we are going to eat their lunch (preferably low carbs).

Make sure someone is writing scrips for the people that buy the soft drinks to get the free samples of Afrezza! LOL!
