I went for a drive and got thinking about Mannkind's current status as a buyout target. (Corrections welcome)
We just had the most positive conference call (maybe ever for MNKD).
We currently carry appx. 3 billion NOLs.
Our short term debt. is nil.
We have a pile of potentially exclusive drug extending patents.
Once the sale of Danbury goes through we won't have any real estate. we will have cash.
The most obvious weakness I see is we don't have a poison pill, no shares on the shelf, (rumored to be some 25 million).
I see MNKD as the attractive girl at the prom, and, she just slipped out of her prom dress (the conference positives), suitors abound (the companies testing their drugs on Technosphere) and she's kind of defenseless.
If a buyer is in the wings, I believe now or shortly after the Danbury sale goes through (unless we have adopted a poison pill) would be the time for a hostile bid.
Comments welcome both pro and con, this is musing more than anything else.

I hope not. I want to ride this stock for years.
Well, I suppose it depends on the price. If it gets bought out for $100+ within the next year, I won't complain but that's not likely.

I'm not rooting for it, it's actually slightly concerning to me. A hostile bid would probably not make any of us very happy unless it were to trigger a bidding war.

The samples get distributed to the physician/specialist/ Pulmonary offices. MNKD is on track for upcoming revenue. Being priced in. The Moderna and Pfizer SAR2 COVID19 mRNA technology, has brought to light, the university labs and the medications that can be engineered. Case in point look at the price action of NK on thread off topic, Pharma thread.

long, There’s a lot of chatter about us being a buyout target on social media mostly from chart guys like Dr. J ....They think we raise to $10-$12 and get bought out at $15
Not my opinion or my hope.. just relaying the gossip.

That would be unfortunate unless it’s an all stock deal and allows those that want to continue with their investment without incurring a tax liability.

I think $15 would have made Al Mann very sad. I know it will make me sad.

The $15 price would be unfortunate along with the tax liability of a cash buyout in my opinion. I’ve been a holder and believer in MNKD for years and expect to be for many more years into future. I would vote NO.

These guys are chartists.. ..they’re just looking at the company for the first time with new eyes and they see some potential but they don’t understand what we all know to be the real potential so they think someone’s gonna come in and pick us up cheap because that’s what BP does.

They also do not understand this company has a cult based following and I believe Mike is part of the cult. That's not baked into the charts. Al was big on selling out at the right price. I think his "right price" prior to the reverse split was about $100pps. Then again he fully believed afrezza would be the greatest selling drug of all time. Al was usually right given enough time, so we will see. It looks like Mike has turned the corner and does not plan on putting the "Out of Business" sign on the door anytime soon. Two years again things were really iffy. Not so much now.
