I chatted with a someone at Torrey Pines who let me know that human trials for the inhaleable pain meds have -not- yet begun. She mentioned that they're still testing on smaller animals at this point, and now that the FDA has approved Afrezza, the only thing holding up the trials will be for Mannkind to actually sign an agreement. She did reiterate again how exciting this tech is and why this would be such a big deal. Very fast acting and without the opioid effect.
It would have been nice to hear that human trials are already in progress, but this is not surprising. It sounds like Mannkind will decide in either November or February which programs they'd like to focus on, and then fast track them.
Of note: they weren't interested in testing on me, or offering me a job. I'm 0-2 now, since Mannkind doesn't want me either. I'm considering hibernating through the winter this year to pass some time. Wake me up when sales start.

PETA will be all over Torrey Pines, imagine giving animals headaches and who knows what other pains, just to see if sucking on a loaded cricket can take the pain away - quickly!

I'm considering hibernating through the winter this year to pass some time. Wake me up when sales start. The primary "opioid effect" mentioned in the past was addiction. A Technosphere version would be non-addictive. Torrey Pines did sign an agreement with Cara Pharmaceuticals to develop a similar (perhaps even the same compound of) opioid, which I think is in clinical testing. I remember posting something about Cara last year, but I no longer recall all the details. I remember because I put CARA on my stock watchlist at the time... SIDENOTE: hansmolo, your avatar has long been one of my favorites.
