vissertrades
Thanks for the post.
Your article helps me put this in perspective (a fact that has been puzzling me): YTD Daily Trading Activity as of 10/21 on MNKD = 1.95 Billion trades; the public float on MNKD is 248MM shares (WSJ.com); that's almost a 8x churn on all available float; in other words every single available share in public domain has been traded 8 times over.
By comparison: same number for CIT is 304MM trades, on a active float of 178MM (wsj.com), a churn of 1.5x .. and guess what, the Short Interest on CIT is 2% vs. 32% for MNKD.
Just saying ..
p.s. I have an excel backing these numbers, if someone can tell me how to upload, be happy to.

vdhingra, you can "attach" a spreadsheet to any post. You can even edit your post above (for 30 more minutes) and add an attachment. Just look for the "Add Attachment" button in the "Reply" screen if you're replying to a post (it doesn't show up in the "Quick Reply" window, you have to press the "Reply" button on the right.)

Looking at your spread sheet, vd, is a maudlin, nostalgic look at a not too distant memory lane. We had a lot of opportunities to sell some above $10! I blame members of this board for my failure to sell; I tried blaming my wife, that did not work well. Spiro's probably the main culprit, followed by mannmade, and, then, of course, the notorious nurses - very bad influence! I'm a bitter man!

2008 added up shows 111K FTD. I believe that's around the lawsuit time, then they shaped up a bit in 2009!

2008 added up shows 111K FTD. I believe that's around the lawsuit time, then they shaped up a bit in 2009! Either its 11 mil, the comma is in the wrong spot, or theres a number missing. Id like to see this raw data if anyone has it, particularly interested in the day to day FTD going back to 2007, not just the totals.

2008 added up shows 111K FTD. I believe that's around the lawsuit time, then they shaped up a bit in 2009! October, 2007 was when Exubera was discontinued and then in 2008 came.... Lung cancer concerns On April 9, 2008, Pfizer announced that Exubera may have been associated with lung cancer: of the 4,740 patients who used Exubera in clinical trials, six have developed lung cancer as of April 2008, compared to only one of the 4,292 patients in the placebo group. The association was not statistically significant, and Pfizer maintained in its letter that "Exubera remains a safe and effective medication." In a letter 18 June 2008, Pfizer informed UK doctors of the above mentioned six cases, noting that they all had a prior history of cigarette smoking and that they were planning to investigate further the "observed imbalance in diagnosed lung cases" with an international observational trial. Pfizer's letter also stated that Nektar had stopped searching for a new marketing partner and therefore Pfizer would withdraw its Marketing Authorisation around September 2008. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inhalable_insulin

Ya, trying to save some time. The formatting is tough to screw with. If it was already added by someone, would like access to the raw file.

Why don't funds and institutions need to report short positions on a quarterly basis? Making them file a 13F for short positions seems fair to me.
