MannKind has registered a booth in pretty good position across from Dexcom. I don't think MannKind has had a booth at one of these conferences in quite awhile.

I like it. Great excuse to get away to New Orleans. I know they got a barstool with my name on it.

Actually, and this is from a quick search online, it appears Mannkind did have a booth there in 2018 and 2019. The conference was online last year, and it hosted a virtual booth then. But, in 2020, Mannkind did skip the booth - MC said it was costing too much and wasn't worth it (or something to that effect).

The excuse for no booth was that most of the attendees were from outside the USA. I remember this because it didn't sound plausible.

Let's hope MNKD being right across from DXCM is not a coincidence. It would be nice if they ran some real time demo's a few times during the day with DXCM doing something like the Coke Challenge. With Lilly right next door a head to head challenge with Lyumjev would be exciting.

I like it. Great excuse to get away to New Orleans. I know they got a barstool with my name on it. Abita Amber in an open container on a warm day and a leisurely stroll by the river. I like Nawlins. They need to repair the docks wrecked by Katrina. I LOVE sayhey24’s idea of demonstrating Afrezza’s action using Dexcom products. There has to be a beautiful model PWD somewhere who would be willing to indulge in a beignet and watch Afrezza chop the top off the spike. I once wrote Rose Alinaya and proposed “The Afrezza Challenge”. The idea was to pit two groups of volunteer doctors and PWDs against each other to demonstrate the A1C and TIR differences between the results the best that RAA and conventional protocols could produce versus Afrezza and VDEX-style protocols. The prize could be a new Bentley (or whatever) if RAA won, and Afrezza for life for the Afrezza volunteers if Afrezza won. I got a polite response. My guess is the FDA would frown on such a thing, but it would be awesome. And hence, we’re stuck with carefully designed and executed, time consuming, and expensive, clinical trials. So be it. Do it anyway.

You can have coke challenge without the challenge because its already been done, no law against a type 1 sitting there wearing a dexcom cast onto a monitor screen enjoying a coke for all to see.

With Lilly right next door a head to head challenge with Lyumjev would be exciting. It's a fantastic idea, very rebel and would cause quite the stir—which is exactly why it will never happen under ADA's roof. ADA is a pay-to-play operation. Mankind would be attacked relentlessly by the Insulin Cartel (ADA, Sanofi, Lilly, Novo) if MannKind made a mockery of injectable mealtime insulin like that with such ease. I fully encourage such an endeavor, but without large scale clinical trials already in the works to withstand the onslaught that would for sure follow, it would not be wise for Mike to pursue such a renegade operation (or would it?)...

If a stunt like that caused open rebellion it would be AWESOME. How could the big boys defend their motivation for the sudden onslaught? And, I assume Afrezza would get much needed and beneficial noteriety. That said, and as you also point out, action/reaction, there are always trade-offs. Now if we could just get the reddit gang to pile in on the right side of a fight...

I think another great idea that would surely make the Insulin Cartel’s blood boil would be for MannKind to have a poster presentation set up at the booth on the potentially life-threatening iatrogenic disease caused by injectable insulins that was recently added to their labels called, Localized insulin-derived amyloidosis. MannKind could discuss this serious pitfall associated with the use of injectable insulins, mainly mealtime injectable insulins, and how Afrezza poses no such threat.
I believe it is a angle that could be exploited to great benefit, I mean, who in the hell would want that chit and it’s only treatable with surgery.

I am thinking Kevin Sayer could host it to show off his new G7 and how it responds to the two fastest insulins. Too bad for Lilly it will show Lyumjev is not so fast in and out. Its the least he can do for Al Mann since Al invented his product.
