I don't see SENS having a booth at the conference. They are also having a terrible day after announcing FDA approval of their 6 month E3 sensor. Maybe Mike should invite them to the MNKD booth and do the Coke Challenge with a G7 and an E3.

I hope MNKD chooses Ascencia to take on marketing/sale for Afrezza. I like your G7/E3 challenge.

Ascencia you would think could be a good partner but they don't seem to be selling many XLs. I know if I had Mike's old job of Chief Commercial Officer I would be doing the challenge with a bullhorn in hand. When I look at the Ascencia website it looks like all they are selling are the old contour meters plus the eversense. Maybe they should bundle afrezza with the E3. They could give away the E3 with a one year Afrezza prescription and become an afrezza distributor.

It’s probably not that easy to give away an E3 since it’s implanted by a trained medical professional. I think Ascencia has been waiting for the 180 FDA approval before they ramp up marketing efforts. It’s a no brained for the 90 day customers to roll over to the 180 as soon as replacement is necessary.

It’s a no brained for the 90 day customers to roll over to the 180 as soon as replacement is necessary. I am probably thinking about this backwards, anyway since Medicare covers the CGM but only if used with insulin. I would think the big market with the E3 is with the PCPs and T2s so I would think afrezza would help sell the E3. If Ascencia could work a deal with MNKD and bundle the afrezza at a very reasonable cost maybe they could open up the early T2 market. I just quickly read their user guide and the transmitter requires daily recharging which seems like a pain. I didn't see a way to use NFC between the sensor and cell phone and not need the transmitter. If the battery lasted a week that would be a lot better. The sensor looks pretty similar to what I use to microchip my dogs. Pretty much anyone should be able to able to insert the sensor like a GP or pharmacist or even your friendly Vet or dog breeder. The user guide seems to assume its going to be a GP. I sure hope Mike starts thinking aggressive and creative and does some kind of challenge. I will volunteer to bring my megaphone and be the announcer.

I think you should apply for the CCO job. You can work out of Danbury (close enough to home, no?). You could probably do it hybrid-style and work from home most of the time.
Of course, Mike would probably just say no to all your good ideas like I believe he did to CMO Dr. Kendall, which is probably what drove him out.

Would the FDA be OK with a "Coke Challenge?"
They won't even allow the word Afrezza on billboards or race cars or pizza in an Afrezza commercial.

Would the FDA be OK with a "Coke Challenge?" They won't even allow the word Afrezza on billboards or race cars or pizza in an Afrezza commercial. It depends on what kind of coke. If you shared a few lines with some of them they would probably be OK. Would the ADA be OK with this - probably not but, come on man, at this point who cares. The ADA is not MNKD's friend and they are going to do all they can to stop afrezza. I think you could at least get a couple of challenges in on the first day until they try and shut it down. IMO, unless Mike has had a secret plan for the last four years and never told us he really needs to start getting aggressive with the ADA. Dave Kendall played patty-cake with them and we know how that turned out. Afrezza is a disruptive technology. Maybe Mike can start doing some disruptive things. Maybe he can have some truckers from Canada be the challenge participants. The G7 is not the promised M&M CGM but its pretty damn near and I think Google did one hell of a job developing it. Whats does SENS have to lose? They have a sensor which needs to be implanted and then requires an external transmitter which needs daily maintenance. I have to think they could make more money selling afrezza with their sensor to the correct market, the GP. I don't see the Endo's being a friend of the E3. Lilly is telling everyone Lyumjev is the greatest thing since sliced bread but we all know here its no afrezza. Afrezza will kick its butt. I think the only loser in this would be Lilly unless they can argue a slower insulin with a longer tail which you have to inject and causes injection site reactions is a benefit. Kevin Sayer gets a real-time demo. The E3 gets some exposure and afrezza demonstrates real time blood sugar correction with no hypos; aka the holy grail in diabetes treatment. And, if Mike invites me to be the announcer I get to use my bullhorn and maybe a free ride in a paddy wagon. On second thought, maybe Bill from VDex wants to rent a booth and I can be his announcer.
