Great discussion. Castagna mentioned that MNKD received approval yesterday for 3-yr dating on Afrezza.

But this still doesn't address that there really isn't a need for refrigeration?

So is it 3 years in fridge or 3 years room temp?

So is it 3 years in fridge or 3 years room temp? Afrezza expires 3 years from date of manufacture. The original storage requirement remains the same.

So now the boxes can sit on the shelf unused longer. ummm...that's exactly what that means Insofar as time in storage matters, I assume the upside is managing inventory and COGS just got easier and potentially cheaper. It’s a generally a good thing if you don’t have to throw manufactured products away because they expired from a regulatory perspective.

Granted current Afrezza sales have much to be desired but it sure seems the company is setting the table nicely for long range plans. Extending the shelf life to 3 years is good. Removing the restrictive label following UTHR's approval would be good. Pediatric approval with competitive data showing "superiority" would be fantastic and as has been suggested might just flip the SOC in Afrezza's favor which would of course be spectacular. We obviously don't know the future but we've always known the potential and IMO it's looking better and better.

Occasionally, we have a quarterly report when we write-off (expense) expired product which has been returned from warehouse/distributor/pharmacies.. With 3 year expiration, this will be easier to manage and minimize.

Clearly the lengthened shelf life time is a good thing. Especially true given the difficulty selling the product. Improved COGS, less Afrezza has to be tossed out as it sits unsold, etc. Now let’s actually sell the stuff way before the 3 year expiration, doesn’t seem too much to ask!
