A note from the staff: Banning of a member, the way we mean it, almost never happens. The staff is pretty good at troubleshooting and we can usually resolve an issue with a human member fairly easily. Actually, based on my experience with past boards, I'm pleasantly surprised with how few moderation issues actually come up. All credit goes to liane for that. So the reason I say this is that these days, there are all kinds of technical and social reasons for our connections to the board to get messed up. A recent incident may or may not have been due to a VPN issue, but I can tell you I had one whopper of a VPN issue myself this morning, where I got honestly scared ProBoards had shut down because my machine couldn't resolve a DNS entry for this board or the ProBoards Support board while working with everything else. After some confusion, I isolated the issue to the VPN I use, which was currently disabled, but messing things up anyway. And I'm supposedly an IT guy. So if I can get freaked out, I find it easy to imagine the same sort of thing might happen (or has happened) to some of you, and maybe you're trying to reach the board at the time, and it won't connect... please don't assume you've been banned. At least not by us. By some 'bot being run by the main ProBoards server, maybe, so note there's a ProBoards Support board where anyone can ask questions, here's the page: support.proboards.com/board/44/support-board[If you lose the link, just Google "ProBoards support board"] As long as you don't find yourself banned from that board too, you can get help there. Else you just have to find a machine with a different IP address and log in from there until the issue can get resolved.
